Johnny Depp as the Madd Hatter and More FREE Nickelback!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 @ 3:13PM

Obligated to write here.

This is what Johnny Depp is to look like as the Madd Hatter in Tim Burton’s upcoming remake of “Alice In Wonderland.” My favorite comment so far was “he looks like Edward Scissorhands got with Willy Wonka” or “He looks like Sigorney Weaver after she was possessed in ‘Ghostbusters.” I just don’t know what to think of it.  I am sorry but Burton’s “Willy Wonka” sucked.  This doesn’t look any better.  Tim Burton is ruining my childhood stories faster than Disney.  I just don’t find him original anymore.  I am sorry but not every single story in the world needs to be seen through the eyes of a drunk and stoned middle-aged goth.  Not that Tim Burton is either drunk or stoned but I am sure you can find people to argue either side of the case.

And now…

“You’ve Got More Feet on the Street Than Cops on the Beat”

Monday, November 10th, 2008 @ 3:12PM

Fully

I saw Guy Richie’s new film “RockNRolla” this weekend and despite mixed reviews I was extremely entertained.  Though Mr. Richie prefers style over substance his characters and dialogue are very memorable.  You are really never sure who will or die in these films and since there are a lot of actors we don’t know stateside you really can’t guess too easily who will bite it.  I hope Guy keeps his promise to...just go see the film.

Also tonight catch Henry Rollins performing spoken word at the Avalon Theatre.

See you there,

Corey

5 O’Clock X-Set and Other Goings On, O’Brien Approved

Friday, November 7th, 2008 @ 4:05PM

DooD!

It has been a few days now that we have a new president elect.  We aren’t over the honeymoon but we are over 2 years of election nonsense.  Now that is over I want you to dedicate a song to our new Pres since we all finally know.  This will be today’s 5 O’Clock X-Set but you can leave your comments of course in case you miss out on the on-air fun.

Also, this weekend celebrate the 100 year birthday of our neighbors, Trolley Square.  A great place to be if you are in to the barbershop quartet scene.

On Monday night catch Hank...err Henry Rollins at The Avalon Theatre on Monday night.  This isn’t Mr. Rollins as his band or a reunion Black Flag tour.  This is Henry spouting off about anything he wants.  I saw him at the Depot last year and you will get your money’s worth as he spoke for 3 hours.  A lot has happened since then and as a well-read, world traveler it is good to hear how Henry Rollins’ world view evolves and will challenge you to compare you own.  And he can be really funny.  Because it is at The Avalon it’s all ages.  See you Monday.  Go to The Kollective for tickets.
