Hack the Planet

This is probably illegal so you shouldn’t do it. Just like you never stole the new Britney Spears album from the internets. (for the record I am not telling you to do this, just passing knowledge along). I know what you have thought to yourself when you are driving along, listening to X96 and you come across one of those electronic construction signs telling you to exit or detour. You think, “Dag nabbit honey, I wish I could hack that thing and put some cool messages up for my fellow drivers.” Then you wife says, “I never loved you.” Either way my favorite blog has details on how you can hack those signs and probably how to divorce your wife if you dig around around enough. Click here to find how to hack the planet…of construction signs.
I won’t keep quiet :)

I had this comment posted on my blog yesterday:
Hey whats up,
Why do you guys hate the former President Bush so much? Though I’m not a huge political buff, I just want a few solid reasons why he was so terrible, something descriptive, not the bandwagon vauge [sic] answers. And lets just bypass the Iraq War, I think we can all agree that was a mistake.
Thanks,
Russ
Here is my response as I understand things from what I’ve read, seen and heard. That’s not to say I could have some things wrong but if I do please keep the discussion going. What else is a blog good for? Here goes:

Dear Russ,
Just bypass the Iraq war? How about we stop breathing too? I don’t think those fighting the war, stationed away from their families and putting their lives on the line can just forget about the war. I know this because I have ex-roommates and friends who are in the armed forces. I should mention that I don’t speak for them nor would I ever attempt to but with American citizen’s lives in danger to say “just bypass the Iraq War” is irresponsible. If you haven’t traveled in the past few years then you might not understand so well. I was in London a few years back and the bums wanted to beat us up for being American. The bums! I remember being in Spain and walking into a shop where the clerk asked us if were from England. I replied, “No, I am from the United States. How about you?” He replied “Iraq.” Who knows what his story was. Did he have to leave his home because of my country’s actions? Did he have family and friends killed because we invaded his country unlawfully? Talk about a reality check. That is my personal, though limited, experience.
So why dislike the administration of George W. Bush? How about the laundry list of Constitutional violations if not in spite of the law, against the spirit of it? During his administration he has blocked the Freedom of Information Act, rolled back environmental protections under the guise of names like “The Clear Skies Initiative” (how about the lovely Salt Lake Valley air today), suspended Habeas Corpus, politicized checks and balances by encouraging deceit in the Judicial Branch of our government - I could go on and on. Okay, I will: his administration, possibly the Vice President’s office, leaked the identity of a CIA undercover agent for not going along with the PR campaign that got us into the Iraq war, signing statements placing George W. Bush above the law and vacationing as much as he worked all on the American taxpayers dime while hatred and apathy grew for the U.S. and the economy faltered. Less oversight meant greed ran rampant ushering in hard times, not to mention the issue you wanted to avoid, Russ - getting us into a never ending war based on lies, violation of the Geneva convention by instituting torture, rendition all in the name of nation building (something Bush promised not to do) for his rich defense industry buddies while blocking out bids from those that didn’t have the President in their pocket. I think that is enough for my case but there are newspapers, books and websites with good journalistic reputations that can clarify if you want to research further. I hope that helps some.
Thanks,
Corey O’Brien
