Adventuers in Salt Lake On A Pedal Bike

So today I ventured out on my mountain bike and I learned a few things as I traveled from home to Sugarhouse Park to Liberty Park to downtown to Sugarhouse again to home.

1. It is dangerous - our city planners suck.  they block off side walks where there is no shoulder.  drivers don’t look and/or want to kill people on bicycles.
2. Our city is nothing but a bunch of holes - Crossroads, sugarhood, DV8 and parts of main street all have properties containing nothing but huge holes.  Is this Salt Lake or Iraq?
3.  Wear a helmet - I didn’t today but I should have.  I was hauling ass from 20th East down 1300 S to Liberty Park and would have been dead had someone pulled out of their driveway - no doubt about it.  SPLAT!  I even have a helmet but I was stupid and didn’t want to head back home to get it.  it was sooooooo nice today I just couldn’t stop riding around.
4.  I miss riding past Sugarhouse Coffee on the corner of 1100 E and 21st.  There were always people chillin’ and you could stop for a drink.  Now there is an unsightly pit - a pit of dispair as I am sure anyone that enjoyed that corner now feels it.  i know they have moved but it’s not the same.
5.  It was the most fun I have had in weeks.  It is good to get to know where you live from outside a car.  I was amazed at how many people were out and about today enjoying the sun, just get ready for the snow again this weekend.  Thank god we live near the mountains.
