Okay, as a lover of local music, I was excited to see who got picked for this. Most of these bands I hadn’t heard of (big surprise). So I looked them up. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?! There are MAYBE 4 bands that have merit. And what’s with the band from Denver? Did you guys even listen to the bands you picked? This is disgusting. Portia, you show much better taste in your weekly playlists.

Let’s talk about the complete bollocks that is this list of bands. Where exactly are really great local bands of SLC ? -’cause they’re sadly missing from this list.
You might want to start focusing on stepping up your search. I could list 5 bands that reign supreme over all of these. Email me and you can have the list.

List the five bands then. Make them public, if they are so good I want to hear them too.
Stop bashing Portia. It can’t be easy to find ‘local’ music that doesn’t blow. I don’t want her job or Corey’s.

MarcusJ: Who’s bashing Portia? Surely it wasn’t just up to her who plays. You want five bands?
-New Nervous
-Neon Trees
-Spork
-Our Dark Horse
-La Farsa
-All Things Glowing Brightly
-Steady Machete
-Paxtin
I could go on. Do yourself a favor, listen to Cluster Funk from DENVER! and then to Fox Van Cleef and top it all off with some Lexi SayOk. Then pick 3 of the 8 bands I mentioned that AREN’T on this B.S. list and see if there is a difference.

I’ll give them a shot. Might take me a couple days because of work though.
Way to step up.

Cluster Funk is the Utah School of Rock All-Star Band. They all live in SLC. http://www.schoolofrock.com

The New Nervous broke up for the Summer. I love Scott, but he’s getting his stuff together.
Neon Trees is now residing in Hollywood.
SPORK would not participate. Bill Frost doesn’t think he’s “Good looking” enough. Dork!
Our Dark Horse I never heard of, has never communicated with me, nor had any interest in 4-Play.
La Farsa is a folk band, and did not apply, although I love Erin Haley to death!
All Things Glowing Brightly was in the running, but we had the hard decision of choosing 16 out of 74 bands. They have been chosen as a runner up.
Steady Machete has a great CD, however they are lacking in filling up a big stage to play the Bash.
Paxtin also did not apply for this event. I love their EP, but they did not seem to have an interest in this event. Also, they competed in last year’s X96 4-Play, but did not win.
