PORTIA
X96 Live and Local this Sunday, October 14.
Friday, October 12th, 2007 @ 7:30PM
Hey there. Portia here, host of X96's award-winning Utah indie band show, X96 Live and Local.
This Sunday, starting at 8:00 pm., Mury will be here to promote a little show on October 21 at the Avalon theater. They are opening for a band you might know called Yellowcard! Mury consists of former Take The Fall, The Contingency Plan, and Ayrton members. Mury (yes, a nifty misspelling of Murray, Utah) formed last Spring, and moved to California this Summer. But they are still considered local Utah darlings, and they already have a pretty good following here. When I say ‘darlings’, does that make you want to barf? Am I getting old in this great, state of ours?
Also appearing and playing acoustic at 9:30 pm, is Davis County’s Fourteen Days From Forever. I thought it would only be appropriate for the band to come on the 14th. Haha. Okay, that’s lame. http://www.myspace.com/fourteendaysfromforever
Coming up later in the month, the first X96 Live and Local X~SKAvaganza show will debut on the 21st. Scotty from 90’s local Ska band Stretsch Armstronng will be here, as well as new local Ska talent. Insatiable may also make an appearance. It will be one skankin’ good time.
On Sunday, October 28, it’s the second annual X96 Live and Local Halloween party, featuring plenty of scary, hardcore and gothic local music to give you nightmares on the Sabbath. Believe me, Utah may seem tame, but there is plenty of rebellion goin’ on here. In a good way, of course. I think. I also just found a cool pirate Capitan costume from Pib’s Exchange to wear just for the show, and I’m making guests Our Time In Space wear costumes as well. That’s a rule on the Halloween show. I know, the pirate thing is so last year, right? But the kick-ass vinyl boots I found were only $10 and they have metal heels. Who wouldn’t pass that up?
Please join me this and every Sunday night from 8-10 pm. for X96 Live and Local!
