X96 Live and Local Xposed

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 @ 10:43PM

Whenever I fill-in for Mr. Corey O'Brien weeknights here on X96, he lets me take over Xposed at 8:00 pm. to do a Live and Local version.

No voting is done during my appearances, just “Xposure” of three local bands for you to check out.

On Monday, June 30, while Corey was getting shizzled at the 311/Snoop Dog show at USANA, I played these Utah artists for you to be more experienced with:

Starmy “Motor Rev”
FINALLY, after four years of no new recorded material, we get a double EP gem from the popular Salt Lake rock darlings. Oh, and how darling they are! http://www.myspace.com/starmy

Elizabethan Report “Sweat, Swat, Swote!”
A new band out of Provo. And lucky bastards, they just got hand-picked by Red Hot Chili Pepper Anthony Keidis and American Eagle Outfitters to play at the
New American Music Union Festival (NAMU) On August 9 in Philadelphia playing as one of the top 15 college bands in America alongside Bob Dylan, The Raconteurs, The Roots, The Black Keys, Spoon, and others. ER will then compete with the other college bands at the fest to win a $10,000 prize including to be signed. http://www.myspace.com/elizabethanreport

Broke City “I Feel Alive”
And speaking of being signed, pardon my French but sometimes the biz can be so political and extremely unfair, I’m not going to sugar-coat anything here; Broke City (formerly known as SLC band Broke, who was forced to change their name due to a metal band of the same name being signed...but I have not seen them out in the open yet, what gives?) got signed to Madonna’s label Maverik, which shortly went under and got bought out by WB. They were in a long list of bands to get produced, then they were suddenly dropped. Their 2007 highly anticipated album “The Answer” was then released last Summer on their own. Now super genius Wylie Joel Pack and the gang are working on a new effort including this gem “I Feel Alive”. Look for it before 2009. http://www.myspace.com/broke
