The pets love me...

This is what happens when I get home from work.  The puppy makes me pet his tummy and the kitty gets jealous.  And if she can, she’ll climb me.  Last night I had a kitten on my back, and a puppy rolling on his back in front of me.

This is what it’s like to feel loved.

I love beanie season!

This is a Mrs. Nuke ‘Em original beanie.  It’s not as trippy as my checkered Van’s beanie, but it still rocks.  Are you looking at me (or whomever is on the air currently) on the new x96 web camera?  Now you can stalk us from the privacy of your laptop.

This is what it looks like...

On yesterday’s post I mentioned the procedure of using a Netipot.  It’s not pretty, but I decided to post the photos anyway.

I poured salt water up my nostril.

For real.

I had a cold that is wanting to turn into a sinus infection, so I turned to the world of “nasal irrigation” and used the Netipot.  You shove the spout of this little tea kettle device into your nose and then dump in a solution of saline and salt and other stuff.  The liquid then drains out your other nostril.  Thankfully I haven’t posted any video or photos of this event because it is unsightly.  But my nose feels better.  It sort of felt like I was doing a Stupid Human Trick on Letterman, but the relief was great.

Am I a hippie?

Hawthorne Heights tribute tonight for Casey Calvert

Sad news...

Our friends Hawthorne Heights suffered a terrible tragedy over the weekend.  Guitarist Casey Calvert was found dead in his tour bus.  The following statement was posted by the band at http://www.hawthorneheights.com on 11/24/07.

“Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We’ve spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we’re not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don’t contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don’t want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.”

Eron, JT, Mica and Matt

I have personally respected this band for believing in their craft and for working hard to obtain all of the success they enjoy.  X96 has always appreciated working with them, and they have been very gracious to X96 and our listeners, having played two different X96 Big Ass Shows.  Their most recent appearance was just over a year ago in September of 2006.  It was during this time in their career when they had parted with their record label and were pretty much doing the whole tour on their own.  I remember taking the band to our production office so we could pay them for their performance.  This is usually handled by managers and agents, but these guys were handling everything themselves.  There isn’t a nicer group of guys on the planet, and they always go out of their way for their fans.

I wish the band and Casey’s family and friends all my best during this difficult time.

As a tribute to Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert, X96 is hosting a special top ten countdown of Hawthorne Heights songs at 7 tonight.  Email your favorite Hawthorne Heights song to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or text it to the number 7-96-40.
