Please tell me.

This is Young At Heart.  They are all over 80 and they like to rock out.  This choir sings punk rock and classic rock and I want to know what you think.  They are performing June 10th at the Capitol Theater.  If we got free tickets to give away, would you be interested?

What the hell is an iPod?

I think Apple should drive a dump truck filled with cash to the X96 studios and dump it out for all of the mentions they’ve received on my feature.  They owe X96, don’t you think?  They should at least put an FM tuner in their iPods; I can’t believe they let Zune scoop them on that feature.

A terrible game that I love.

I know that Grand Theft Auto 4 is completely horrible.  It’s filled with violence, extreme mayhem, and despicable human behavior.  Yet, my brothers have it and I had a blast playing it.  I almost want to get an Xbox 360 just for Grand Theft Auto 4.  And Rock Band.  That’s too much fun as well.  Oh my god, am I going to become a gamer? And am I a horrible person for enjoying driving like a maniac and running over pedestrians?

A busy weekend...

My weekend started out on Thursday night when we went to Indiana Jones.  Read about that on my last post.  On Friday night Mrs. Nukey and I went to see one of our favorite bands of all time, The Cure.  They were amazing as usual, and they played for three hours even though Robert Smith had been ill with strep throat for days.  He sounded good, and even though he had to retreat to a table of tea, beverages, sinus inhalers and other medicines in front of the drum kit, they still played…and played…and played.  It was a great set, too.  They played hit after hit, and quite a chunk of the Disintegration album and a nice encore of songs from the classic Seventeen Seconds album.  Guitarist Porl Thompson was back with the band after nearly 16 years, and he was amazing.  He added a lot to their sound throughout the 80s and I look forward to his contributions on the upcoming album.

The next night I went to the Utah Blaze game where we gave away the 2008 fully custom Full Throttle Harley Davidson Street Bob.  I was the emcee at halftime and I dressed in my referee uniform for the festivities.  It was great, even though the Utah Blaze mascot Chief stole my yellow penalty flag from my back pocket and tossed it into the air.

Here I am about to go onto the field hanging with Big Budda and and my buddy Chief.

The next big event was cutting my hair into a mohawk.  That’s right a mohawk, not a fauxhawk.  See for yourself if you like the results.

Finally on Monday night I got to see a band that I’ve been dying to see for the last few years.  Death Cab For Cutie performed last night at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, and they were awesome.  I had the opportunity to meet them before the show.  Their tour manager picked us up in his golf cart and drove us to their tour bus and the guys came out and chatted with us.  They are actually some of the nicest rock stars I’ve ever met.  I became an obsessed fan for a moment, telling Ben Gibbard how awesome his lyrics are, especially on the song “Grapevine Fires.”  Mrs. Nukey and I got our picture taken with the band, and then it was time for the show.  They sounded amazing live; these guys are clearly brilliantly talented.

I never get out of the house this much.  Now it’s time to go back to work.  And that’s OK, because we’re paying you $50 an hour to listen to us at work.  Details are at X96.com.
