I was wrong.

Please accept my sincere apologies for ever playing Katy Perry on X96.  I got the full album and finally listened to the entire thing.  I may as well have played Miley Cyrus or Avril Lavigne or Britney Spears.  I was completely misguided by the “rock remix” of “I Kissed A Girl” that the record company sent to us.  I was bamboozled by the hype machine that portrayed her as an alternative artist when they claimed she was on the Warped Tour.  Pure sugar-coated garbage!  I’m embarassed that I played the song even once on X96.  They claim that she is 23 years-old.  I find that highly dubious.  The touched up photos on the album make her look my age at least.  Anybody remember Milli Vanilli?

It's our company's Lagoon Day!

Today our parent company, the locally owned Simmons Media, is having Lagoon Day!  That means I get to ride Wicked with Artie Fufkin and eat at the Big Horn Terrace with all of my co-workers.  Wahoo!  Free rides and free food!  Plus I hear that my buddy Taylor Explicit is the supervisor in charge of our catered food.  That means I get an extra hamburger

That book is how we keep our computers up and running!  We’re super high tech, and I hear that next year we’re upgrading to the Commodore 64!

(I found that book at my parent’s house.  It belongs to my older brother who was a Vic 20 geek when he was a teenager.  Big surprise, he now gets paid good money as a computer programmer!)

A summer movie party with X96!

We bought out an entire theater at the Jordon Commons Megaplex for an X96 screening of The Dark Knight.  Listen to win tickets all day and all night.  Yup, even our overnight guy/little brother Andypants is giving them away.  You can also text the keyword BATMAN to the number 79640 to enter for a drawing.  The movie party is Friday the 18th and the movie starts at 5:15 pm.

I think it's because the movie "Control" is out on DVD and I finally saw it.

There’s a little theme on todd’s iPod today, and it has to do with Joy Division.  Granted, most people probably don’t quite get these guys.  I firmly believe that if bands like them didn’t come along in the late 70s and early 80s then we wouldn’t have the music of today.  Joy Division, The Cure, The Clash, The Ramones and countless others came along and destroyed conventional approaches in music and pushed the creative limits.  This was the crucial groundwork on which alternative music was built.  So pardon me as I pay homage to one of the bands that helped build music as we know it.

Police Scanner

Too much fun on July 4th.

So recently I purchased a police scanner at RadioShack because I am a gigantic nerd.  I got it to listen to the police, fire, ambulance, and UTA Frontrunner and Trax.  One thing I observed over the weekend is that people have nothing else better to do than call the cops on their neighbors for lighting off illegal fireworks.  This is understandable since I did not light fireworks this year because the wind would have blown them across the street into my neighbor’s house.  This neighbor, by the way, is a police officer and I’m sure he would have taken me downtown if I torched his house. 

Anyway, the scanner is too much fun.  It’s great to be informed when crap is going down.

Ouch!

This was the picture my wife sent to me while I was in a meeting yesterday afternoon.  She had tripped and smashed her wrist and arm on the corner of our jagged metal coffee table at home.  She was afraid it was broken, so we took her to the doctor.  It turns out it wasn’t broken but the doctor only gave her pain medication for “mild” pain.  After a night of no rest and screaming pain, I was able to get her something a little better.  That’s why I wasn’t here today until 11:30.

Does this look like “mild” pain?  That’s what it looks like today.  OUCH!
