Football!

Friday, August 29th, 2008 @ 9:59AM

I love football!

I was on my way to officiate my JV game yesterday when my buddy Zack asked me to pose for a picture.  I’m an idiot!  But I love football!  I’m officiating a varsity game tonight and then tomorrow I’m going to the BYU game.

Sneaking Coke into Hamlet 2.

Thursday, August 28th, 2008 @ 1:00PM

smile

Last night Mrs. Nukey and I went to see the new film Hamlet 2. It sounded fun and we wanted to check it out.  We went first to Fazoli’s in Layton for some delicious spaghetti and meatballs. When we were done, we refilled our drinks and headed for the theater.  Usually I get popcorn and a Coke, but I was stuffed.  I didn’t want to leave a perfectly good Coke in the car and have to buy another one at the movie, so my wife showed me the benefits of having a gigantic purse.  We were able to put our cups of Coke in her purse and sneak them into the theater.

I am so dangerous!

The craziest time of the year!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 @ 12:52PM

Fall is totally nuts!

Man.  I get so busy during the fall that I don’t have time to even think.  We have lots of planning for next year at the radio station, we’re getting the X96 Maverik Big Ass Show set up, getting ready for the Dew Tour, and on top of all that, I officiate high school football.  It’s all fun, but it keeps me busy.  That’s why this particular blog entry is now ending.

Video of my mohawk getting removed :(

Thursday, August 21st, 2008 @ 10:51AM

I'm gonna miss it...

It was time for my beloved mohawk to go away for a while.  I’m a high school football official and we like to be as professional as possible in our appearance.  Don’t worry.  Come early November and the mohawk will return in a crazy new color!

Tonight don’t miss the first installment of X96 4 Play at The Avalon 3605 South State Street.  It’s free! Starting at 7pm, see Lexisayok, The Market, Ivy League, and Fail to Follow.  Tell your friends!

X96 4 Play concerts are FREE!

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 @ 7:53AM

Every Thursday at The Avalon.

The X96 4 Play concert series kicks off Thursday night at 7pm at The Avalon (3605 South State) and will continue every Thursday night until September 11. Each week we feature 4 local bands. And the best part, IT’S FREE! Come and check out some great local musicians.
This week you can see the following:

Lexisayok www. myspace. com/lexisayok
The Market www. myspace. com/themarkettunes
Ivy Leage www. myspace. com/ivyleaguerock
Fail to Follow www. myspace. com/failtofollow

Free local music from X96. The lovely and talented Portia is your host for the night as well. Tell your friends and make a night of it. I’m excited to see Lexisayok because they have some pretty insane tunes. The Market kicks ass as well, except for keyboardist Anthony Webster. I’m going to kick his ass after the show. (Only because I love him.) Plus you have to see Bryan’s new short hair!

See you there, bitches!

Damn, I’ve been fighting a cold for the past week and now I’m losing my voice.  I don’t feel particularly ill, I’m just hoarse.  Time to suck lemons!

Lazy blog entry.

Blah.

Blah blah blah blah.  Blah blah blah blah, words, stuff.  Blah blah.  Something about my personal life, perhaps what I did last night.  Blah blah.

Yesterday in Ogden.

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 @ 12:34PM

My 20 year anniversary in broadcasting.

While we celebrate the 5000th episode of Radio From Hell on X96, another quiet milestone is occurring.  I’ve been in broadcasting for 20 years.  It’s only perfect that I got to go to the old KJQ studio yesterday morning with Kerry, Bill, and Gina where it all started.  I hadn’t been there since I resigned back in December of 1991.  Bill Allred hired me back in August of 1988 when I was only 18.  The old building at 1506 Gibson Avenue hadn’t really changed all that much in 17 years since I’d last seen it.  There was fewer junk and less equipment, but it still smelled the same.

Here is an old picture of me when I was 18 in the old KJQ studio.

And this is the same pose...sort of...from yesterday. I haven’t changed in the least, right?

This is Radio From Hell crammed into the old studio just the way they used to do it, minus a lot of old junky equipment.

And this is some of the old junky equipment we used back then. I found some of it in the garage.

And below is where my old desk used to be.

It’s hard to believe that we survived after coming from such a hell hole.  Congratulations to Kerry, Bill, and Gina for making me laugh for 5000 episodes.  Special thanks to Richie T for organizing this week of celebration for Radio From Hell.
