How I spend Friday nights in the fall.

You may or may not know that I am a high school football official.  I love the game and I love working as a zebra.  Most of the time, I am certain that nobody is aware of my job as an idiot on the radio.  I’m just another guy wearing stripes.  We were fortunate to have a professional photographer snapping a few photos of the officiating crew at my game at Bonneville on 9/11/09, and I wanted to share them with you.

Here I am with the crew.  I’m the shortest guy, standing on the left side.  These are great guys.

That’s me after calling a false start.

I’m signaling that the clock should continue to run since the tackle was in-bounds.

Don’t mess with the ref.

1950-2009

Poet, musician, and writer Jim Carroll passed away at his home on September 11, 2009.  If you want to read a gritty book about his youth, get a copy of The Basketball Diaries.  After you read that, get the movie and watch it.  This should be recommended reading for young people who are considering a career in drug use.  I love the movie and book, and you’ll wonder how he made it past age 25.
