X96 Big Ass Show 2008
Monday, April 21st, 2008 @ 12:01PM
Coming soon!
We’re already working on preparations for the 2008 X96 Big Ass Show. We must have decent weather this time, that’s for sure. So far we have some good options for bands, and we will likely move the event to USANA Amphitheater. This will keep costs down and make it possible for us to crank the sound up. Please post any comments you have for bands you’d like to see.

USANA is terrible.. it would be all seats (no GA) and the food there is incredibly expensive.. besides there are like only 2 ways to get in there.. (unlike the salt palace or fairgrounds)
regardless.. i would love to see more punk bands there.. Social D last year was great to see..
as for bands:
Billy Talent
Bouncing Souls
Tiger Army
Supersuckers
The Phenomenauts
Bad Religion
Eve 6 (yeah, they are touring again)
Dash Rip Rock
Pennywise
Flogging Molly
umong others.. but I would love to see more “psychobilly” or “rockabilly” type bands at an event like this.

I’d love to see Say Anything at the big ass show. A very energetic show. Love em’.
.... Do I even have to say Reel Big Fish?
Presidents of The United States.
Maybe a little.... Aquabats?
If I had the Big Ass Show my way, it would be an all-ska show. Which is exactly why I’m just the web guy!!!

Would you please reconsider the venue for the Big Ass Show? My kids and I go every year. We really like going to the fairpark and being outside for one of the last nice days of the year. I realize weather can be unpredictable. Nice save last year, by the way. USANA would seem like one long assed concert, whereas having it outside makes it an event. Just an opinion, we’ll go anyway, wherever.

I don’t know… I kind of like the idea of having it at USANA. I think it would be cool. But that’s just my 2 cents.
I missed a few, samjohnson has some good tastes in music! Weatherbox / Say Anything would be awesome. And I totally forgot about Modest Mouse.... I would LOVE to see them live. I haven’t had the chance to yet!
< ass kiss > Either way, Todd always does a kickass job of finding cool bands. < / ass kiss>

I like USANA as a venue, but I think it would be horrible for a festival type concert, and parking and venue access stink.

AFI
Armor for Sleep
Funeral for a Friend
Hawthorne Heights
Letter Kills
Matchbook Romance
Motion City Soundtrack
Relient K
Rise Against

i totally disagree with the usana haters...it’s a great venue. there ARE seats at usana..and there aren’t any seats at the fairpark, so what was the first commenter talking about?
as far as bands, i vote for LESS punk bands - that is what the warped tour is for. i want to see some bands that are more rock and even a rock/hip hop combo.
here’s my list:
paramore
against me!
korn
rise against
the killers
jurassic 5
something corporate
plain white t’s
lo pro
shiny toy guns
smashing pumpkins
please DON’T have
the used
yellowcard
did i mention the used?
snow patrol

byugolfstud, Weezer? You kidding?
If the big ass show was able to book Weezer… it would be....
“THE X96 BIG ASS SHOW. FEATURING:
WEEZER.
THE PHENOMENAUTS.”
And that’s it. Why? Because Weezer is EXPENSIVE.
I wish… but.... not likely.
