A 24-year-old Ocala man was charged with attempting to circumcise his nephew with a kitchen knife, police said. Police received a call that a 20-month-old boy had been cut, Sgt. Michael Sommer said, and by the time officers arrived the boy’s father had taken him to the hospital.

Stan Lock decided to lose his thick brown hair to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care after a number of friends and family were struck down by the disease. The model pupil had the trim on Sunday after setting up a donation page – with some teachers giving him money. But he was devastated when he went to school the next day and was told his number zero hairstyle was against the rules.

A school cancelled a workshop on homophobic bullying because the Board of Management allegedly determined that ‘both sides of the argument should be represented’. The free workshop, which was to be held at Coláiste Eoin in Stillorgan, Ireland, is designed to encourage students not to discriminate against LGBT people or students. But 30 minutes before the event was due to start, volunteer organisation ShoutOut – which holds the workshops – was told it would not go ahead. An unidentified source told them that the school’s Board of Management had decided ‘both sides of the argument should be represented’.
