Boner Candidate #1: WELL, HE MAY BE A MOLESTER BUT HE’S A GOOD MAN

A child sex abuse victim says she’s been denied housing after accusing a “good man” of molesting her for years — and Missouri prosecutors are mystified that so many community members are supporting the admitted sex offender. Darren Paden was sentenced to 50 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty in August to two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy — but friends, family members, church elders and community leaders begged a judge to go easy on him. Prosecutors said the 52-year-old Paden sexually abused the girl up to 300 times over a decade, beginning before she was 5 years old. His 28-year-old son, Anthony Paden, was also charged with sex abuse, although his case remains pending. But community members have turned their backs on the girl, who is now 18 years old and testified against her abuser in court, and rallied around Paden.

Boner Candidate #2: WHAT? I GAVE HER A GUN AND TOLD HER TO SHOOT THE BAD GUYS

An Arizona grandfather has been arrested and accused of leaving his five-year-old granddaughter alone in the desert with a loaded and cocked .45-caliber handgun and the instruction to “shoot any bad guys,” authorities said on Monday. Paul Armand Rater, 53, was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail in downtown Phoenix on suspicion of two counts of felony child abuse and one count of felony child endangerment stemming from incident on Sunday night. Deputies said he and the child left their home in Buckeye, about 30 miles (48 km) west of Phoenix, in a pickup truck early on Sunday afternoon and that the girl was reported missing four hours later. She was eventually located in the desert by her mother and an off-duty firefighter. The child was holding the powerful pistol. “She was given the gun and told to shoot any bad guys,” Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told Reuters by telephone. “I don’t know how a five-year-old can tell a good guy from a bad guy, but that’s what she said she was told.”

Boner Candidate #3: AIDS IS GOD’S HEADS UP TO THE GAYS

“Generations Radio” host Kevin Swanson recently announced that Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal are slated to address his National Religious Liberty Conference this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. Swanson is one of the most virulently anti-LGBT activists out there: He has defended Uganda’s kill-the-gays bill, warned that the Girl Scouts, women’s soccer and movies like “Frozen” turn girls into lesbians, and accused gay people of causing devastating floods and hurricanes. Therefore, we were less than surprised to hear him say in a radio broadcast last month that HIV/AIDS is God’s punishment for gay people and a good thing!
