The Work Place Wizz.

The wonderful world of urinals.

Sometimes it’s the little things that get to you and become big things.  You take for granted that your work place will have a place of relative comfort that you can use to perform your bathroom duties.  I, for one, appreciate a good urinal in the men’s room.  We have one here at X-96 but this week, on Monday, it got clogged.  Everyone griped about it being plugged up, but no one did anything.  So, on the Radio From Hell Show, we took matters into our own hands (so to speak) and got Jay the janitor to stop by and unplug the thing.  Pictures are available on the RFH page for your perusal.  Thank the Lord we can now stand and deliver at will.

There’s an amazing amount of information out there about urinals.  If you’re interested, I suggest looking at the Wikipedia entry about them.  Also, I found this unusual site; http://www.urinal.net.  You can spend hours with these wonderful bathroom installations.  There’s even a forum for you to talk about urinals and your experience with them.  I was so excited, I nearly wet myself.  This isn’t a website you can just whiz by either.  Take some time with it.  Enjoy.

The Orphanage (El Orfanato) and other movie stuff.

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 @ 11:44AM

I need to go to the movies more often.

I saw this film, The Orphanage, last Saturday night.  It’s a Spanish made ghost story that is about as scary as the come.  Part of what makes it so frightening is that the story is so sad and pathetic.  I can’t imagine that this movie won’t scare the crap out of you and move you as well.  The woman who plays the lead, Belen Rueda, gives a very strong performance.

Without her, The Orphanage would not be as gripping as it is.  The last two scenes of the movie were maybe not necessary.  The whole movie is so downbeat that the director seemed to think we needed a couple of moments of relief at the end.  I’m not so sure that he shouldn’t have let it end on a grim note.

I’m going to make an effort to see more current movies in the near future.  I get so far behind though.  I still haven’t seen No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood.  My goal is going to be a movie a week in 2008.

Thanks for listening, Bill.

Where can I contact Bill Allred?

Currently there is no mechanism for commenting on these blog entries and I know you’re dying to say something about the things I publish.  So, for now, feel free to contact me at .  I want to hear from you.

Also, this...do you know anyone who delivers bread for the Crumb Brothers up in Logan.  I love their bread and want to encourage them to make the X-96 studios one of their regular stops on a once-a-week basis.  Tell the Crumb Brothers to email me immediately.

Another Friday and I’m still sick

Friday, January 25th, 2008 @ 3:44PM

The Guthrie "reign of terror" is finally at an end.

I think Guthrie did a great job on the Radio From Hell Show.  I just hope he saved us from becoming a “big gay dinosaur” like the guy you see in this package.

Bill is sick.

I don’t think there’s anything worse for a guy on the radio that getting the sick that makes him lose his voice.  Well, I got that sick right now. I was feeling less that 100% on Monday when we drove up to Park City for the Sundance RFH shows.  Then Tuesday and Wednesday I was full on out of it.  It was two days of being in a cough syrup fog.  Thank God and curse God for codine.  I’d welcome any and all home remedies you all might suggest.
Speaking of Sundance; I wonder how you all really like us being up there and droning on about documentary (for the most part) films.  The documentarians are usually the only ones who’ll talk to us.  We are mostly shunned by the big stars because they don’t want to get up in the morning and promote their movies.  I think next year we’ll try to get some bigger stars and if it doesn’t work I say we should just bag it.
I’m pretty excited that Gina will be back Monday. She won’t be in the studio, but will participate in the show from her home.  After the broadcast on Monday we’re meeting her for breakfast in Sugarhouse.  You should all feel free to join us.
I look forward to your comments on the blog.  Thanks for listening.  Bill
