This is just a sample.
Here are some of the left-overs of the food that was brought to the studio, just today. The whole week has been like this…gobs of snacks and I can’t resist. Mmm, TownHouse Crackers and cheese balls. Oh, and those Pecan Sandies (the official cookie of the Radio From Hell Show) How did those damned veggies get on the table? Please, stop bringing food. I have no will power.

You guys are great.
Saturday night at the Nightmare Before Xmas concert you all really came through…on so many levels. First of all you just turned out, in force, for a great show. All of the bands were just great. Brian’s band The Market did great opening up the evening. And, Brian is getting married soon he tells me so that was great news after a great set of music. Danny, you were a monster on those drums.
Then we had a terrific set from The Brobecks. Nothing but great success in the future for these guys. Their music just gets better and more mature every time I see them.
Anberlin did not disappoint. The crowd was huge behind them and loved every song. I think they could have played another hour and kept people right there with them…sweaty and bangin’ to the beat.
The anticipation for Anberlin was so great that some people were kind of writing off Hoobastank. There were even some who said they thought a big chunk of the audience would leave after the Anberlin set, but not so; they did not go anywhere. They were ready for a driving set of music and got it from these guys. Singer Doug Robb was great with the audience and sincere I think in his expression of love and gratitude for Salt Lake. “We love playing here,” he said,. “because you guys get it.” And you did. Everybody was right with them.
But, most of all THANKS FOR THE MONEY. You all really came through when I got kind of pissey with you from the stage about putting money into the box for 10 year old Bailey Parks (hope I spelled that right) cancer fund. I’ve not met Bailey personally, but I know her dad, Jimmy the Tooth. Jimmy (The Kollective) were the concert promoters of the Christmas show. Jimmy’s a great guy and we wish Bailey a speedy recovery. Last I heard she’s doing well.
You all ended up putting over $600 bucks in that cardboard box. Congratulations to you all. Now, let me tell you about The Road Home…..

War Crimes Tribunal Anyone?
A new report out today, authored, in part, by the former Republican candidate for president John McCain, says that Donald Rumsfeld bears major responsibility for torture of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and at Guantanamo prison in Cuba. Yep, this guy

..not just the individual officers at the prison, but Donald H. Rumsfeld the former secretary of defense. The report specifically mentioned Rumsfeld and policies directly authorized by him.
And then there’s this miserable old creep, Dick Cheney.
Don’t think that Mr. Cheney wasn’t in the loop on this one. The report says that these abusive treatment policies were discussed in high level White House meetings. I’m not going to lump George W. Bush in this because I’m just not sure how much attention he pays to these matters. And the report also says officials admitted that these techniques used on prisoners seldom, if ever, yield valuable information.
So, will these matters go further? Will anyone seek to prosecute these men and others? It could happen, but I an not hopeful.

Cirque Du Soliel....with BOOBS!
I like Cirque Du Soliel shows. I’ve seen several of them over the years in Las Vegas. Mystere is great. O was phenomenal. And Ka, well, it was the most mind blowing of all. All of these shows have certain things in common. The start with cast members in the audience before the actual show begins, doing funny things; interacting with audience members and warming things up for the spectacle that’s about to follow. All Cirque shows feature spectacular flying acts, dangerous stunts, beautiful costumes, and live, original music.
Zumanity has all of these things along with plenty of bare breasted and chested women and men. The comedy is very bawdy and some of it’s really funny. Zumanity sags in the middle of the show. There’s a homo-erotic cage match that just brings the show to a crashing halt and then it struggles to regain it’s momentum after that. Zumanity is not the best Cirque show I’ve seen, but not the worst either. I also saw Believe with Chris Angel. Horrible! I felt bad for the Cirque people involved.

My New Deoderant

I think I'm hooked
This is the Pit Putty Deoderant I’ve been using from Bubble and Bee. I like it a lot
I think it will now serve as my go to personal hygiene product. I’ve done as they suggest and used it for 10 days. It keeps me smelling nice and even though it isn’t an anti-perspirant, I’m keeping pretty dry as well. I like the fact that it’s a local product and that it’s organic too. Check out their web site at http://www.bubbleandbee.com. I’ve used one of the soaps and it’s great too.
Thanks for sticking with me during Pit Watch ‘08.
Bill
