Boner Candidate #1: STICK WITH YOUR OWN KIND

A simple ad for Old Navy stores has turned into a snapshot of the extremes of race relations in the United States, fueling both an outburst of bigotry and a powerful reaction against it. Last Friday, Old Navy posted the ad to Twitter, promoting a sale with a photo of an attractive, happy interracial family in an embrace. Within hours, a backlash was apparent, with hashtags like #BoycottOldNavy and #WhiteGenocide, and messages like “Stop promoting race mixing, you degenerates,” and “I don’t shop at stores that are anti-White and promote race mixing.” In the days since, there has been a backlash to the backlash, with hundreds of people voicing their rejection of the prejudiced messages in the most personal way possible, posting photos of their own interracial families, often with the hashtag #LoveWins. With a snapshot of her own parents holding her as a baby, the journalist Soledad O’Brien wrote on Twitter, “My parents marriage was illegal in 1958.”

Boner Candidate #2: FIDDY IS SORRY, REALLY HE IS

Rapper 50 Cent is no stranger to controversy and now an encounter with a contract worker at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport has created a firestorm online. He followed the worker and posted the video online, complete with speculation the young man might be on drugs. But the truth turned out to be much different. Disturbing, appalling, just flat out sick; that was how the parents of Andrew Farrell described the video that showed rapper 50 Cent harassing their son. Andrew Farrell had just started his workday at CVG. He was on his way to clean one of the gates. “Then this guy just came up to me and started talking to me,” remembered Andrew. It wasn’t just any guy, it was 50 Cent. And he wasn’t just talking to Andrew, he was harassing him. 50 Cent said, “Look at him. What kinds *&%# you think he took before he came to work today? He high as a mother f***** right here in the airport.”

Boner Candidate #3: I WON’T TOW A DISABLED COMMUNIST’S CAR..NO WAY.

When 25-year-old Cassandra McWade got in a car accident on a highway in Asheville, North Carolina, on Monday, Ken Shupe drove his tow truck to the scene. But when he saw that McWade, who has disabilities, had Bernie Sanders signs on her Toyota Camry, he decided he wouldn’t help. “He said, ‘I can’t tow you … you’re a Bernie supporter,’” McWade recalled. “I was like, ‘Wait, are you serious? You’re kidding me.’” Ken Shupe, a 51-year-old from Travelers Rest, South Carolina, was very serious. “I’m a conservative Christian, I’ve just drawn a line in the sand,” he said. “I’m not going to associate or conduct business with them.” (The incident was first reportedby FOX Carolina 21.) McWade was heading home to Travelers Rest on I-26 when a tractor trailer hit the front of her car, she said. Afterward, her car wouldn’t start, and a first responder moved it to the side of the interstate. The driver’s door was approximately two feet from the highway line, she recalled.
