My list of “Things That Must Go” High School Reunion Version

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 @ 11:24AM

In no particular order

1. People who say that they will help you call and find people for the reunion and then disappear
2. People who want to talk to me when I am trying to get their information
3. People who still hold grudges from ten years ago...I don’t care who you are..I just need your information
4. People who don’t have email addresses? My grandpa (dead now a year) had an email address for crying out loud
5. People who complain about the cost of a completely catered dinner at Little America.....If you don’t like the cost volunteer to be on the committee
6. Mothers of graduates who give you the third degree when you ask where you can find their daughters
7. Mothers who want to talk to you for hours and reminisce on the good old days.  Listen, I’m sorry your daughter married that guy too but there is nothing I could do about it I was in Ohio serving a mission!
8. People who want me to comp their tickets to the reunion because they are helping with one portion of the activity. I am spending countless hours and I still have to pay for the thing!
9. People who have dropped off the face of the planet and no one still has contact with them
10. Reunions altogether

The only beautiful part of Idaho

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 @ 10:34AM

Twin Falls, ID

Every Memorial weekend for the last 3 years I have made the trek Burns, OR (pop. 950) My friends, the Steineckerts, live there. He does a morning show for KZZR and is in charge of all the sports broadcasting for all of Harney County OR.  It is just as backwoods as it sounds. Its fun to visit with them, tell old radio stories etc.  But the drive to Burns OR from SLC takes FOREVER! And there is nothing along the whole route. It is ugly, sagey, and boring.  On the way back last night we decided to pull off in the town of Twin Falls ID. Whenever I hear any town in Idaho mention I always think eh its Idaho it cant be that cool and 99% of the time I am correct.  But this was amazing.  Beautiful bridge with the Snake River running underneath it.  If you are ever in Twin Falls....check it out.

I wrote a song for Radio From Hell in Zion

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 @ 7:32AM

Sung to Hymn #322 From the LDS Church Hymn Book

I admit....This is the GREATEST BLOG SONG EVER WRITTEN

Come listen fop’s
Yes please turn on your radio
And listen to the show
Sit back and drink your cup a joe
We’ll get gina up on a horse and Bill and kerry will yell of Course
Cause I brought them down to Zion to do the show

If you miss out on this
You will feel real stupid
But you can go online
And save it your ipod (say that part fast)
You’ll listen to it again again

Now I know how your grandma feels!

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 @ 11:32AM

Maybe that came out wrong

I am a wreck right now.  I feel like I have the same complaints as an old person.  I have acid reflux like crazy right now.  It has flared up and gives me crazy amounts of indigestion etc.  I am no longer sleeping through the night. I wake up several times in the night, not to go to the bathroom but because it seems like I just cant sleep through the night.  Radio From Hell is going out of town this week and I hardly feel ready for us to leave.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.  Not to mention the madness will continue as I start late night rehearsal for Indiana Bones, I am playing Raboul, the sidekick to Heir Lipman.  All that I can think about right now is sleep. I think that is where I shall go.

I might be moving back home with Mom

Thursday, May 15th, 2008 @ 11:10AM

Meh....

I called my mom yesterday just to check in with her and found out that she has to have both of her knees replaced.  Both of them! She is older than 30 (thats how I am sure she would prefer that I say it) and has to have them done in the next 3 months. She is a strong-willed independent woman and I am sure that this will be very hard for her.  She is a Realtor so when she doesnt work she doesnt make any money.  Not to mention she needs a baby-sitter to tell her not to try and do things that she shouldn’t do.
It’s interesting.  In the last year I feel like the reality of growing old has hit home.  Last January when my dad was hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs, May when grandpa passed away, September when my grandma was admitted to an assisted-living center, and now my mothers total knee replacement.

Oh and my mission mom (Mission Presidents Wife) passed away and I am going to a funeral tonight.

Ovarian Celebration

Monday, May 12th, 2008 @ 10:20AM

Yay!

My family is an interesting one.  Besides my mom never taking me to the dentist growing up and my grandpa watching me bathe on occasion, we celebrate mothers day a little differently.  All the ladies in my family have a sign, I like to call it their female gang sign. It is accomplished by making your body into the female reproductive cycle.  You extend your arms over your head and make a fist, this way your fists are your ovaries your arms become the fallopian tubes and your body....well you get the point.  They all flash that sign to one another and then buy each other gifts to celebrate their womanhood.  I have two sisters-in-law who have yet to bear any fruit, but they get Ovarian Celebration gifts.  The men in our family celebrate Testosterone Day.  I won’t share with you our signal.

Blogging blows my mind

Thursday, May 8th, 2008 @ 10:42AM

Who?

I love blogging.  Kerry teases me that I am a blog hog.  Bill is indifferent about my blogging. I am so proud that Gina blogged today.
It takes a little bit of imagination to blog everyday.  I know that very few of these blogs have been entertaining, but I am starting to really enjoy it.  In the last couple of days I have had some fun experiences with who reads my blogs.
First, my brother who assembles shelving in large box stores (Wal-mart, Pet-smart, etc) travels a bunch and I am not able to keep in touch with him.  He will be gone 90% of a month and he is able to follow what is going on in my life via my blog.  When I talk to him he asks about something that went on that day and until the other day I thought someone was filling him in with info about me, turns out he reads my blog.
Second, last night way passed my bed time, I received an email from a friend of mine named Becky (who makes the best breadsticks ever).  She married my friend Mike (who manages Western Gardens Sandy) and her and I have chatted when we have all gotten together but I am closer to her husband.  She reads the blog and got on my case about proposing to Booster.
Finally a friend of mine from Middle School Dan, thats right MIDDLE SCHOOL, wrote to let me know that he loves the blog and just wanted to say hi.
Anyway...I hope in someway this whole thing was interesting?

Anyone else read or like this thing that would surprise me?

I thought she was going to propose

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 @ 12:00PM

My Booster

On Sunday, my girlfriend affectionately called Booster, informed me that she was going to be unavailable for the next couple of days.  Some sort of adventure that would make her unavailable for me to see and limited time to talk to.  Being respectful of space, I didn’t pry but wished her luck, told her to be safe, and would look forward to her return.
Then she started asking me if I knew any ex-girlfriends that still lived in southern Utah that she could talk to.  She wanted to know places that I would go to while I lived in Cedar City and attended Southern Utah University.  When I would ask her why she wanted to know, she would just say...It’s a secret.
Now flash back to earlier on Sunday before she told me of her adventure when she confronted me and asked me “If I proposed to you, would you say yes?” to which I replied “Yes.”
I began to speculate why should want all this information. What could she be planning?  Who was she going to talk to?  Skeletons going to come out of my closet (yeah I know what you might think there) I finally came to the conclusion she must be planning some grand scheme to ask me to marry her.  I was excited, nervous, scared, anxious, all the emotions that I think a girl would go through in anticipation of her engagement.
While as it turns out there was no proposal, she just wanted to have an adventure and went down to my old stomping grounds and took a bunch of pictures in the places I used to hang out.

I guess I will just have to keep waiting.

5000th Episode August 13th

Monday, May 5th, 2008 @ 2:02PM

Kind of exciting

There are several new interns that you will hear about at the station.  Its amazing every semester we are able to accomplish so much more.  The caliber of the interns continues to increase.  As we look forward to the 5000th episode we have some really great things planned.  It is very rare that a morning show reaches 5000 episodes.  I am honored to be a part of this occasion and even more honored to work with them for the 5000th episode.  All seems to be going well.  We will need every FOP’s help in making this occasion just perfect for KBG.  If you have suggestions, comments, ideas, please send them to me.

A little more about me

Thursday, May 1st, 2008 @ 10:34AM

I consider myself an amateur photographer...

I was thinking the other day that there are several things that people that listen to the show don’t know about me.  One is that I like to take photographs..All kinds...Here are a couple of pictures that I took in January.  I think they are kinda cool.  They were taken right by house at the mouth of City Creek Park.  It was cold so there were plenty of shivering pictures but here are the best.  I would love to hear thoughts if you think they are any good or not.
