Mommy got new legs!

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 @ 11:55AM

OUCH

My mom went in yesterday to get herself a new knee. Apparently the old one was worn out from praying for her son to do the right thing.  But seriously, at 55yrs old she has worn through her original God given knee and now has the chance to wear out another one.  My mom is the hardest working person I have ever met.  Always doing a million things, never rests, I’m surprised she hasnt traded in her whole body for new one...is that even possible?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 @ 10:05AM

My little pet project

You probably all remember the little project a while back “X Mart”.  It was a place to get station swag.  You know, your regular run of the mill X96 logo t-shirts or RFH logo t-shirts. Well we are bringing it back.  Only this will be a store to get designer t-shirts that all of us here at X96 have designed. You will find a shirt of some sorts from all of your favorites here. Artie will have one, Corey, Todd, RFH even Andy Pants and Portia. Keep looking back at X96.com for our big launch coming in the next couple of weeks.

If you have shirt suggestions leave a comment or email

From the Dr.’s Office to your home or office computer

5 more years til my next reunion..

1yr ago I started planning my high school reunion.  I knew that there had to be good food, lots of people, entertainment, music, and plenty of time to mingle.  I knew that I had to get the word out to all the people of my graduating class.  I knew that I needed to have a committee to help with the process as to not be overwhelmed. I did all of those things.  And as luck would have it….I GOT SICK FRIDAY NIGHT. Not just kinda sick..you know the kind where you don’t feel great but you still muster through the ordeal.  I am talking about not able to speak, headache, fever, achy body sick.
The sickness couldn’t have come next weekend or the last weekend it had to be on the one weekend that my high school reunion took place.
I had a good time though.  Lots of people that I hadn’t seen in a long time showed up.  It was fun to see how some things from high school still have not changed.  The cool kids sat with the cool kids.  The nerdy kids hung out with the nerdy kids.  Few crossed social borders and few expected them to.  One of the most entertaining portions of the evening was when I asked people to tell me what they thought would come to them in the next 10 yrs.  From over 75 alumni these were the only four answers:
1. Be Retired (it didn’t get funnier as I kept hearing the same joke”
2. Travel a lot “We like to travel and hope our kids will like to travel”
3. “Have a couple more kids” says the husband. “One more” Says the wife
4. Hopefully be married and not living in my parents house
I had a lot of specific goals (of course I had a lot of time to think about it and I knew the question was coming) I thought I would share those here.
By June 21st 2018 I would like to:
Have a mortgage. Either owning my own home, townhouse, or condo
Be married.. maybe a kid or two…(Save us all from little Richy’s wandering around)
Be making enough money to rise above the poverty line
If not still working for Kerry Bill and Gina, still be “in good” with them (No Brett Smith incident)
Complete a triathlon
Write an entire play (for Desert Star or elsewhere)
Won an award for something, work, theatre ,or other related.
Go sky diving
Go to the Holy land (You know, Palmyra, Kirtland, Nauvoo)
Shake hands with the Prophet.
I suppose that is all…

Going on vacation is harder than staying at work

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 @ 5:48PM

It seems that way

I am taking my first real long vacation in a couple of weeks, but I have decided that going out of town takes a lot of work.  You have to plan where it is that you will be staying, how much it all cost, try and coordinate schedules etc.  Not to mention that because there is not an assistant producer or another “paid” employee that does my job I have to make sure that my capable interns have all the training/knowledge/confidence to take over while I am gone.  In the next couple of days they will be taking care of the show.  Its kinda fun to watch them rise to the occasion.  It is hard to think of everything that the show will experience in the matter of one week (How can you predict the brains of Kerry Bill and Gina) But I have no choice.  You will not want to miss these shows (July 14th-18th)

Best Birthday Ever!

Friday, June 13th, 2008 @ 11:25AM

To Me!

So today is my 28th Birthday!  I love having a birthday because everyone treats you good on your birthday.  Cakes, brownies, cupcakes, balloons, presents.  Plus it is a great time to get together with family and friends.  As I look over the last year I have noticed a lot has changed. Its been a great year. Just a few highlights:

Travelled to Chicago
Ran a Marathon
Moved out of my parents home
Still dating the same girl
Kept my job
Had cancer “thing” removed from arm

A good year...! Here’s to another one!

Another Openin’, Another Show

Thursday, June 12th, 2008 @ 10:46AM

Yahoo

Last night I opened the show “Indiana Bones-Safari So-Good” I play the character of Raboul, sidekick to Heir Lipman (The Villain) Preview night went really well.  Jeff Vice from the Deseret News (you know the guy who brought me the High School Musical Birthday card) came and watched it.  He was quoted as saying (though not to me but through another source) “I have a new-found respect for Richy.” Not sure what that means exactly but I think that it is good news right?  It always feels good to get the show open. Relieves a lot of pressure and now we can start having a lot of fun with it.  I like this show a lot as a performer because I get to sing a parody of “Come on Baby Light My Fire”.  Now I can focus on sleeping more than 4 hrs a night, and I might even have a chance to see my girlfriend. Might.

You may have won today Weinie Man!

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 @ 10:35AM

I HATE Weinies!

I am not a fan of the Lil Smokies/Lil Polska intern.  I should rephrase that to say that I like Ben (Weinie Intern) A lot.  He’s a good guy and has done a really good job in just the couple of weeks that he has been around.  My hesitancy to this whole situation is that I know in some form that this is going to come back to me. That somehow this whole Weinie debacle will come back to be my responsibility.  I know, I know.  They say it won’t.  But mark my words Weinie Man!

I fought the drop and the drop won.

Monday, June 9th, 2008 @ 11:42AM

OUCH

We closed “The Wizard of Odd” Saturday night at the Desert Star Theatre.  I took my biggest bow on Friday night when I bent over to grab a light in one of the scene changes and took a drop to the face.  OUCH! Immediately after the scene change I had to come back out as the Tin Man and sing “Poplar” a Desert Star version of “Popular” from Wicked.  I thought that blood was running down my face from my eye.  Turns out it was just a tear.  But the bruise looks cool....eh?

I have made a TV show decision

Friday, June 6th, 2008 @ 8:34AM

Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who either emailed me or posted comments on what TV show I should watch.  Although “Charles in Charge” was a great suggestion, I have decided that I will begin watching Arrested Development. I received several suggestions for 24, House, and My Name is Earl.  That may be the order I go in after this Arrested Development Experiment.

Funny thing about Arrested Development is that it is a “Favorite” of Boosters (gf). We tried watching it a while ago and I dont think that I made it through the first episode.  An apology to her, but now I am getting a second chance.

I need a new TV show to watch….?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008 @ 10:27AM

Suggestions?

I have started now watching TV shows on DVD. I havent watched much TV for the last ten years or so.  If you have a suggestion of a tv show that you think I would enjoy let me know.  TV shows I have already watched are:
Lost (All Seasons)
The Office
Cheers
MASH

That literally is about all the TV I have ever watched faithfully.  I need shows that are entertaining, available on DVD, “Classic”, and how do i say somewhat wholesome without sounding nerdy...?

Send me some suggestions

All that leadership training…for nothing.

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 @ 10:23AM

Bleh

From high school up I have been parts of various of leadership groups.  I have been involved in the creation of a phenomenonly successful Improv troupe, and for the last 3 yrs have produced effectively for 3yrs a successful morning show.  In high school/college/spare time I have read several books about leadership, about working with a group, about communication, proactivity, and synergy.  These things have proved beneficial to me in most aspects of my life.  Not at Simmons.  Give as much forethought, communication, proactivity, taking one for the team as you will.....Maybe it is like this at all companies...if that is the case, I am going to become self-employed.

Frustrated and possibly just venting.

RFH 5000 Video Suggestions?

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 @ 11:06AM

Meet Connor and Jordan. RFH Video Interns

So the 5000th episode is coming up in a couple of months.  Aug 11th-15th is the actual celebration and it will definitely be a fun time.  We will be having several exclusives available only on a special website to be set up.

That is where these two guys come into play.  In the next few weeks some of you who want to help celebrate RFH 5000th episode will have a chance to meet with them one on one. Others will get to know them from their work.  They are students of film.  Working to put together a video tribute to Radio From Hell.  I won’t tell you all that it will include but I will tell you that we are still taking suggestions as to what this should include. Email them to .  Other than all that we have some pretty awesome things planned.

Things I know about Jordan and Connor.

They are best friends
One went to school in San Francisco the other in Boston (that might be wrong)
They make music videos
Jordans Mom is a friend of the program
Connor is represented by Wilhelmina Talent Agency
Jordan is Jewish and from Utah (I say that here because for whatever reason I told him I would)
They are sophomores in College
They both know what they are doing and are exceptionally talented

I think that is it....

Oh and they will be here tomorrow (Wed) morning filming RFH for the tribute.

Video Suggestions please email me
