Good Looking Dick!

Last night I drove down to Cedar City to speak at the Southern Utah University Broadcasting Banquet.  It was the current students of broadcasting in addition to a couple of alumni.  Heidi “The Groove Thing” intern was also in attendance (being a fellow Thunderbird).  We both spoke about what we thought brought us to where we are, and what we would tell others who are up and coming. 

I started off my “talk” by knocking over several gift bags intended for the banquets award recipients. Once I broke the ice (being an idiot) I got to the meat of my “talk”

Three KEY points to succeeding in Radio

1. Leave your ego at the door
2. Never Say No
3. Committ fully.

I wont bore you with the details that fall under each of those but I felt very good about what I had shared.

One of our upcoming interns was in attendance (He will be an awesome intern look forward to hearing more from and about him)

But the best part of the night was after Heidi and I had spoken to the kids, Dick Nourse got up and started out by telling me I had the right idea.  He said and I quote.... “I should have called myself Richy T, picking the name “Dick” as a broadcaster was a bad mistake”

Take that! Mwa ha aha hah ah...I am think of changing my name now to Richy T Nourse
