Avenue Q plays til Sunday

I would appreciate it if you would read this question to Richie on the air.
I find it quite hypocritical that Richie will go and see live
productions such as Avenue-Q that he is well aware of have strong
language and adult material, however he refuses to see rated R movies.
What is the difference here?
It seems like he is selectively choosing which religious choices to
follow versus all of them across the board like a good return
missionary should.
Thanks for letting me listen.
Scott
Let me start off by saying that at no point do I represent or claim to represent the views of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or its leaders. The thoughts and feelings that I express are solely my personal beliefs and at no point are meant to represent anyone else.
I did go to Avenue Q on Tuesday night. I found it to be very entertaining. I think that the acting, staging, costuming and lighting were very well done. There were many parts of the show that I was fascinated from just a technical aspect.
That being said there were several points of the show that contained “Mature Content.” Even though I knew that Avenue Q had a lot “Questionable” material I decided that I would still go based on the theatres warning that no one under the age of 13 should attend. I watched the show and there were parts of the show that were in fact very adult.
Once I made the decision to watch the show it would have had to have been extremely offensive in order to get me to leave. I find that people who leave theatre shows are very rude, or extremely close minded. Some of the greatest theatre productions that I have attended are those that make me uncomfortable and in the end have a redeeming quality.
Avenue Q is not for everyone, and is certainly “mature”, but I found it to be very enjoyable and despite this “controversy” I am still glad that I went. That said, I have seen it and have moved on.

Good for you Richie! Being open minded was the part that stood out to me. That is one of the things about you that I admire and respect the most. In your line of business you have met and are around many different people and you don’t judge them whatsoever. You have never judged me or acted like you are better than me when you very well could have. You are no hypocrite. You, my friend, are a great guy.

Scott, keep your moral compass focused on your bathroom mirror. Richie is an adult and can make his own decisions. It is none of your business to monitor him.
Cheers, Futzer

Isn’t it the stronger person to watch something possibly questionable and leave with your own morals intact, then the person who stands off on the sidelines questioning others actions?

Hurrah for Richie. I totally agree, with that final statement “That said, I have seen it and have moved on”. Maybe you shouldn’t have seen it, in hindsight, but hindsight is always 20/20 and now you know what to do in the future.
Scott should, meanwhile, go take a flying leap!
