The only beautiful part of Idaho

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 @ 10:34AM

Twin Falls, ID

Every Memorial weekend for the last 3 years I have made the trek Burns, OR (pop. 950) My friends, the Steineckerts, live there. He does a morning show for KZZR and is in charge of all the sports broadcasting for all of Harney County OR.  It is just as backwoods as it sounds. Its fun to visit with them, tell old radio stories etc.  But the drive to Burns OR from SLC takes FOREVER! And there is nothing along the whole route. It is ugly, sagey, and boring.  On the way back last night we decided to pull off in the town of Twin Falls ID. Whenever I hear any town in Idaho mention I always think eh its Idaho it cant be that cool and 99% of the time I am correct.  But this was amazing.  Beautiful bridge with the Snake River running underneath it.  If you are ever in Twin Falls....check it out.

I agree, the drive through Idaho to Oregon is AWFUL! BUT you need to take a trip to the panhandle.  It is actually quite pretty up there. The only problem is you have to drive through the ugly boring part to get there (and it also takes FOREVER).

Richie, Richie, Richie… it’s time you get out of your typical Utah sheltered life.  Go venture and explore.

The Snake River plain (of which you drive through to get to Oregon) isn’t my favorite, either.  To say something so ignorant that there’s only one beautiful place in Idaho illustrates the Utah mentality.  Ever been to Sun Valley and the surrounding area?  Ever been to Stanley and the Sawtooth Mountains?  Redfish Lake?  McCall?  The Panhandle?  Island Park?  Mackay?

By the way, Kerry should check out Silverwood in northern Idaho.  It has some awesome roller coasters, and they aquired a lot of rides from Knotts Berry Farm…
