A Doctor Explains Why Pooping Gives Some People the Chills

Have you ever gotten the chills while going number 2? One doctor recently explained it all to Men’s Health.

Dr. Sameer Islam told the magazine, “What happens when you have a bowel movement is that you are stimulating the vegus nerve.”

Dr. Islam continues, saying that the stimulation of that nerve can have a lot of reactions, including dropped blood pressure, sweats, and-yes-the chills.

“It is normal to feel chills, to feel your heart rate change, and to feel other things that are maybe going on from having a bowel movement,” said Dr. Islam.

Do you experience chills while using the bathroom? Is this something you have always wondered about?
