Game on With Jon for November 1st, 2016

Sweet games I’m playing

  • Gears of War 4 update – even more gore-ious than expected
    • Campaign is a solid romp – picks up 20 years after Gears 3 left off
      • New weapons, new enemies, new mechanics – from quad shotguns to airborne drill bits
    • Horde mode – increasingly difficult of waves of enemies
  • Battlefield 1 update – tactical awesomeness
    • Multiplayer supports up to 64 players all working in ~5 man squads
    • Massive sprawling maps filled with weapons, vehicles, horses, planes, and trains – all of which are controllable
    • Working together with teams to capture objectives, flank enemies, super fun first person shooter

November game releases

  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (PS4, Xbox One, PC) – November 4
    • Set well into the future, features all sorts of futuristic gear
    • Fans of series not excited about this one – poor reception to trailer as opposed to Battlefield 1’s glowing reception
  • PS4 Pro – November 10
    • A $400 upgraded console that boasts improved specs and 4K compatibility
    • Great for people waiting to get into a PS4 – not really worth it for anyone else
  • Watch Dogs 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC) – November 15
    • Open world action adventure game set in a fictional San Francisco
    • Players control a computer hacker trying to take down the city’s advanced surveillance system
    • Sneak around hacking everything from stranger’s cell phones to stop lights
    • Features a mission poking fun at Martin Shkreli, who in turn got pissed on Twitter calling it “trash game”
  • Pokemon Sun/Moon (Nintendo DS) – November 18
    • Game takes place in the Aloha region (Hawaii) – will include recognizable features from the islands
    • Classic Pokemon have “Aloha forms” that have adapted to the unique climate
