HBO Max Won’t Affect AT&T Data Caps

HBO is about to launch its new streaming service HBO Max – and AT&T customers have an extra reason to choose their service over Netflix or Disney+. AT&T says HBO Max won’t count against the company’s ‘soft’ data caps, which push users to a lower priority after reaching certain monthly thresholds.

The company says HBO Max will get an exemption as ‘sponsored data’ – but other services like Netflix or Disney+ won’t be exempt. It’s no coincidence that AT&T also happens to be bundling HBO Max free of charge with some of its data plans.
