Two Dogs Die in Hot Car While Owner Was in Dog Training Class

The owner of a Labrador retriever and a German shepherd left her dogs in the car while she attended a lecture on how to become a paid dog trainer. She left the car running with the air-conditioner on high – as the temps had reached 90 degrees outside. However, the car quit running and by the time the owner returned to her vehicle the dogs had died. It is not clear on how long the owner was gone but is it ever a good idea to leave animals in a running car for extended periods of time? No. Why do we have to have this conversation every year?
