Warner Bros. Turned Suicide Squad Into a Mess in Its Panic Over BvS Criticism

The early reviews are in—and many are lambasting Suicide Squad for being a tonal mess. A new report released by The Hollywood Reporter today claims to have the answer as to how that came about, and it apparently has a lot to do with audiences’ less-than-stellar reaction to Batman v Superman. The extensive report cites a bevy of stresses about the production of the movie, from an alleged rush to meet its August 2016 release date to a supposed concern about David Ayer’s ability to handle an effects-driven summer blockbuster. The concern lead to two alleged rival cuts of the film—one, Ayer’s darker take on the group of villainous misfits, the other a romp that focused on splashy effects and pop-song-infused humor that resonated in the movie’s early trailers. They were both screened for test audiences, until eventually a compromise between the two cuts was found—one that would need extensive reshoots to meld the two wildly different films together, hence the vaunted reports of reshoots that were claimed to “add humor” to the film earlier this year.

‘Suicide Squad’ Fans Petition To Shut Down Rotten Tomatoes Over Scathing Reviews

Scathing reviews for the new comic book anti-hero movie “Suicide Squad” are driving fans to desperate measures. More than 13,000 people on Wednesday had signed an online petition on Change.org calling for the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes to be shut down in protest at the harsh reception. “Suicide Squad,” out in theaters on Friday, follows a rogue group of DC Comics anti-heroes – Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang, Killer Croc and El Diablo – who are captured and held hostage by Gotham’s government to use as weapons to protect the city. Many critics have panned the film, with Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair calling it “too shoddy and forgettable to even register as revolting.” Robbie Collin of London newspaper The Daily Telegraph wrote: “The film makes you cringe so hard your teeth come loose.” The reviews have led to a poor rating of 34 percent on Rotten Tomatoes for the Warner Bros. movie.

Harry Potter script sells millions of copies in just two days

Not even “Hamilton” can keep up with these numbers. The script to the London stage production “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two” sold more than 2 million print copies in North America in its first two days of publication, Scholastic announced Wednesday. That’s well below the 8.3 million copies sold in 2007 for the first day of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” J.K. Rowling’s then-presumed finale for her fantasy series. But it’s still among the fastest-selling works in history and a remarkable number for the script to a play. A text edition of “Hamilton” has also been a best-seller this year. Reviews for the “Cursed Child” book have been mixed, but the new Potter has topped the best-seller lists of Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com and brought in readers nationwide over the weekend for midnight parties celebrating the release.

Pugh also said Ozzy “consistently and willingly and generously gave [her] his love.”

He is responsible for $115.1 million of the verdict.

Kris Jenner involved in car crash

Kris Jenner was reportedly injured in a car crash in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Sheriff’s officials say Jenner did not require serious medical treatment at the scene of the accident — off the 101 freeway near her Calabasas, Calif., home. According to TMZ, the star may have broken her wrist and was treated by paramedics at the scene. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Lt. Ed Winslow says preliminary information showed that Jenner’s car collided with a vehicle that turned in front of hers while trying to get onto a freeway. The smash-up involved Jenner’s brand-new Rolls-Royce and a Prius, per TMZ. Winslow says Jenner and the other driver both declined to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. He did not know the extent of any injuries, but said both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, and no citations were issued.

Kim Kardashian got cut from ‘The Hills’

Once upon a time — well, in 2007 — Lauren Conrad was more famous than Kim Kardashian. As viewers witnessed during Tuesday’s “The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now” special, the future sex-tape star was cut from an episode of MTV’s beloved reality show in Season 3. In the never-before-seen clip, Kardashian and stepbrother Brody Jenner attend the housewarming party of “Hills” co-stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. As Montag mingles with party guests, she and Kardashian strike up a conversation about her pet jellyfish. While Kardashian and Jenner then discuss plans for Memorial Day weekend, it’s no wonder her snooze-worthy cameo wound up on the cutting-room floor. Especially considering the drama swirling among the cast at the time — whether contrived or not.

Amber Heard Will Be Back for Her Depo and Johnny Can Watch

Amber Heard has been cavorting in London this week, but we’re told she will absolutely be back for her deposition on Saturday … and Johnny Depp could be watching the whole thing. Our sources say Amber is locked and loaded for the depo, which is set for 10 AM Saturday morning. Johnny’s lawyers, we’re told, plan to grill her on her claim Johnny physically attacked her. We’re told the depo could last 7 hours, and the range of inquiry includes statements from cops and witnesses who say she showed no signs of injury and nothing was broken in the downtown L.A. loft. Johnny could be at the depo — he has a right to show — but both sides have to sign off on him being present because a restraining order is currently in place. Our sources say Amber’s lawyer will not object to Johnny being at the table.

Cancer-stricken Shannen Doherty: I’ll be dead in five years

As Shannen Doherty continues to battle cancer, she and husband Kurt Iswarienko aren’t taking one moment for granted. “I told him, ‘You need to enjoy every single second you have with me because I’m going to be dead in five years,’ and he just burst out in tears,” the actress shared in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” Doherty, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2015, also recalled the moment she told her spouse of nearly five years the devastating news. “I called him, which was horrible of me,” she said. “I was in the car. I was with my mom, and the doctor called me and I’m, you know, ‘I’m going to wait until I see him,’ and I just couldn’t. So I picked up the phone and I called him and he was like, ‘Where are you?’” As Doherty, 45, pulled into her driveway, Iswarienko was waiting to embrace her.

Quickest divorce ever? Drew and Will are done

Actress Drew Barrymore and her consultant husband Will Kopelman have finalized their divorce in record time — less than three weeks after they filed for the split in Manhattan. The former couple never had to show up in court because the filing was uncontested, meaning they were not fighting over assets or custody. They have two young daughters. Sources told Page Six, “Drew and Will both wanted the divorce done expeditiously. They didn’t want a messy divorce. They are still friends — in fact they are all together in Nantucket right now.” Kopelman is Barrymore’s third husband. They met in 2012 and married just four months later. A source told Page Six in April that “they’ve been having some difficulties” and were separated, but “remain close for the sake of the kids.”
