Courtney Love was honored by several of her famous friends on Saturday night, but it was the fans at Basilica Hudson who were treated to something really special. Besides R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, The National’s Aaron Dessner, Chloë Sevigny, and several others paying tribute to the singer, ex-Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur got up on stage and rocked out a few songs with her former frontwoman. Auf der Maur, who also served as the event producer and creative director, joined in on the band’s classic hits, “Doll Parts”, “Miss World”, and “Softer Softest”. The show marked nearly 25 years from the release of Hole’s Live Through This and 20 years since Auf der Maur left the group.
