For years now, the world’s “Terminator” fans have been comfortable in the knowledge that we would never again be excited by the prospect of seeing another film in the franchise: The last one, “Terminator Genisys,” was even more muddled than its title. But in an announcement this week, James Cameron, the series’ creator, said that another “Terminator” would soon be rolling off the production line. And he gave us two good reasons to hope that civilization won’t be crushed by robots before its release.

‘Watchmen’ Pilot From Damon Lindelof Ordered by HBO

HBO has ordered a pilot for “Watchmen,” the new drama series it is developing with “The Leftovers” creator Damon Lindelof. The premium service has also committed to additional backup scripts for the series. HBO confirmed the pilot order and script commitment Wednesday, one day after Lindelof teased on Instagram that work had begun in the writers room on the project.

The Three-Hour Extended Cut of Superman: The Movie Is Finally Getting a Home Release

Years before extended cuts were a commonplace re-release for movies, the original Richard Donner Superman movie received a bumper cut—nearly 40 minutes longer—when it aired on TV. Now, decades after its premiere, that cut of the movie is finally being released on Blu-ray. Back in February 1982, ABC’s two-night broadcast of Superman: The Moviewas an unprecedented extension of the theatrical release of the film. The three-hour-long version of the movie featured footage never seen before, giving fans longer looks at Krypton before its destruction, more time in Smallville, even more of John Williams’ iconic soundtrack, and more of Christopher Reeves in action as the Man of Steel.
