Boner of the Day( Round 1 and 2) for February 7th, 2019

Round 1

Candidate #1: I CAN SPOT A HUMAN TRAFFICKER A MILE AWAY

Police in Phoenix have disputed Cindy McCain’s claim that she thwarted a human trafficking attempt at Sky Harbor International Airport.
McCain, widow of the late Republican Sen. John McCain and an anti-trafficking activist, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday that she witnessed a child being trafficked at the Phoenix airport last week. “I came in from a trip I’d been on and I spotted — it looked odd — it was a woman of a different ethnicity than the child, this little toddler she had, and something didn’t click with me,” McCain said in the interview. “I went over to the police and told them what I saw, and they went over and questioned her, and, by God, she was trafficking that kid.” The woman, McCain added, was “waiting for the guy who bought the child to get off an airplane.”

Candidate #2: GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR PEACH TREE.

A high school in Utah will drop its contentious “Redmen” mascot some 77 years after the Native American-themed image was adopted — but not before one dissenting board member blasted critics “from the outside” trying to effect local change. The Iron County School District voted 3-2 late Tuesday to remove the mascot from Cedar High School after years of controversy that peaked in 2016, when a video circulated showing the school’s drill team wearing black wigs during a Native American-inspired dance routine, the Salt Lake City Tribune reports. “I believe there is only one correct decision here: We need to … respectfully retire the Redmen mascot,” school board member Stephen Allen said.

Candidate #3: I LOST MY WALLET. I HOPE NO ONE FINDS IT AND RETURNS IT.

A shopper accidentally left his wallet behind while shopping Friday evening at a North Olmsted store. The wallet was turned over to police; however, officers said when they opened the wallet to find some identification, they also found cocaine and methamphetamine. North Olmsted police said besides the illegal drugs, the wallet also contained the man’s drivers license. “What we would like to see you do is stop up at the station and take responsibility. Maybe then we will be able to get you some help for something that you have been struggling with for a long time. The ball is in your court. One way or another, we will be talking soon!!!”

Round 2

Candidate #1: IF YOU LOOK UP THE WORD STUPID IN THE DICTIONARY, YOU’LL FIND HIS PICTURE.

If they gave out Oscars for self-owns, Donald Trump Jr. would be the frontrunner based on the tweet he sent Wednesday. The president’s son decided to question the patriotism of the dozens of women members of the House of Representatives who wore white to Tuesday night’s State of the Union address. Trump’s beef? None of the congresswomen wore American flag pins on their lapels, based on the photo in his tweet.
Although Trump Jr. probably thought he was scoring political points among the base, things came back to bite him. That’s because another Twitter user found a very interesting photo of the Trump family also taken at the State of the Union. Guess what: None of them are wearing flag pins either. As you probably suspected, Twitter users piled on hard.

Candidate #2: REP. GAETZ KNOWS HOW TO STOP SCHOOL SHOOTINGS AND I DON’T KNOW WHY WE DIDN’T THINK OF THIS BEFORE.

epublican Representative Matt Gaetz attempted to have a Parkland, Florida, shooting victim’s father removed from a Wednesday House hearing on gun legislation. The Florida legislator used a House Judiciary Committee hearing, which Politico reported was the first House hearing on gun legislation since 2007, to advocate for President Donald Trump’s border wall.  Gaetz, a member of the committee, pushed back against H.R. 8, a bill that would require background checks for gun purchases. He instead changed the topic to crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, according to The Hill.  “I hope we do not forget the pain of people who have been the victims of violence at the hands of illegal aliens,” Gaetz said. “H.R. 8 would not have stopped many of the circumstances I raised, but a wall, a barrier on the southern border, may have, and that’s what we’re fighting for.” Manuel Oliver, whose son Joaquin Oliver was killed during the Parkland shooting that left 17 people dead last February, stood up during the remarks and shouted.

Candidate #3: WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSE TO DO WITH HER? THAT CHAIR IS SO…YOU KNOW.

Pleasant Valley School District’s Superintendent has apologized after a student was kept off stage because of her wheelchair Monday night.
In a Local 4 News exclusive, the girl’s parents shared their story in hopes of raising awareness.
It happened during a district-wide choir concert at Pleasant Valley High School.
Megan Ramirez turned to Facebook after the show posting two photos side by side. One photo shows a group of junior high students on stage during the performance. The second photo is a wider shot, showing her 13-year-old daughter Madi, left off stage and sitting alone on the side.
Ramirez says she and her husband arrived right before the show was starting, and realized Madi wasn’t on stage.
“My husband looked at me and said ‘how is she getting up there?'” said Ramirez. “I guess I had faith in the school district that they had a way to get her up there or have students stand with her.”
But that wasn’t the case. Superintendent Jim Spelhaug tells Local 4 News he learned after the incident that they could not find the ramp for that stage ahead of Monday night’s performance.
