A GOP effort to jab Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who is currently running for Senate, backfired spectacularly on Tuesday when the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent out a tweet accusing the combat veteran and double amputee of “not standing up for our veterans.” The posting caused an uproar on Twitter immediately, and the NRSC removed the tweet within 10 minutes. The website it linked to remains up, and criticizes Duckworth for her former role as director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. Duckworth campaign spokesman Matt McGrath condemned the tweet and said its tone was typical of Duckworth’s likely opponent, current Sen. Mark Kirk (R).
Boner Candidate #2: THE DEATH OF A SWAN
A swan in Macedonia is the latest animal victim of human beings driven to idiotic extremes by the desire for a good selfie. A Bulgarian tourist visiting Lake Ohrid was photographed pulling the hapless swan out of the water as a prop for a selfie, the Macedonian International News Agency reported. Macedonian resident Nake Batev just happened to be at the lake when he saw the woman — whom he did not know — roughly handling the bird and snapped his own photographs of the horrific scene. “I was just walking by when I noticed her posing and grabbing for her friends to take the picture,” Batev told The Huffington Post via Facebook. “It was just a second and in the next moment I was running and yelling for her to let go.”
Boner Candidate #3: NONE OF THIS IS IN ANY WAY APPROPRIATE
Pennsylvania State Police say a woman cyberbullied her son’s ex-girlfriend by posting online a nude picture the girl sent to him when she was just 12. Troopers from the Belle Vernon barracks are looking to arrest 39-year-old Danita Michaux on charges including felony dissemination of child sex acts. Police say the girl snapped the picture in 2013 and sent it to Michaux’s son. It shows the girl from the waist up. Police say Michaux posted the picture on Facebook after they split up. Police say the girl’s aunt also got harassing Facebook messages from Michaux in December. Online court records don’t list an attorney for Michaux. She doesn’t have a listed telephone number.
