Would you trade your old violin for a magic book which promises to reveal the future and make you rich? As part of the Deer Valley Music Festival, experience an unforgettable evening of music and storytelling on July 9, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Park City, UT. Narrated by Kevin Nakatani and performed by The Utah Symphony, Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat (The Soldier's Tale) follows a soldier who trades his violin for a book that promises wealth, only to face devastating consequences. Paired with Salonen’s Catch and Release, a modern companion piece for the same ensemble, this compelling program blends sharp narrative drama with rich, contemporary textures for a night of suspense, emotion, and unexpected turns.
