1. Utah and Utah State prepare for bowl games as BYU welcomes a new offensive coordinator.
-Utah State (6-6) will take on New Mexico State (7-5) on Friday, Dec. 29, 3:30 p.m. in the Arizona Bowl in Tuscon. It’s the first bowl game since 1960 for NM State where they played guess who? Utah State! (And NM beat USU 20-13.)
-Utah (6-6) will take on West Virginia (6-6) in the Zaxby’s Heart of Texas Bowl on Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
-BYU earned a 77-65 win over Utah on Saturday, and that gives the Cougars victories over all of its in-state rivals. The Cougs were led by guard Elijah Bryant, who scored 29 points. BYU fans taunted coach K with ‘safety first’ chants.
-In the NFL, Panthers owner Jerry Richardson will sell the team after Sports Illustrated published a story detailing allegations of sexual harassment from at least four former employees. Also, the Pats 27-24 victory over the Steelers didn’t come without controversy.
