• W. Kamau Bell at The Grand Theatre

The host of CNN’s “United Shades of America”, W. Kamau Bell will perform at The Grand Theatre brought to you by Salt Lake Community College and Westminster. Aside from TV host, Kamau Bell is a standup, podcaster, and writer. This show is sold out so you’ll have to hit the classifieds if you want a shot at attending.


• Spaghetti Western Night at Garage on Beck

It’s an all-you-can-eat ‘pasghetti dinner for $12 ($10 if you wear a cowboy hat) and a movie. 21+.


• Utah International Auto Expo at Mountain America Expo Center

350 of the hottest new cars in one place. It doesn’t matter if you’re into horsepower, technology, or economy – it’ll all be there and you can even take a test drive right at the show. If you’re looking for a car in 2019 you really shouldn’t miss this. Corey O’Brien will be broadcasting live from 10 am to 3 pm on Friday as well. The Utah International Auto Expo runs through Sunday.


• Chris D’Elia at Wiseguys

Sure he’s handsome. Sure, he’s funny. Sure, your girlfriend already bought tickets. If you want to go, you’d better hurry. At the time of writing this blog, there are only tickets available for the Saturday 9:30 pm show.


• Wasatch Improv Festival

The 2nd Annual Wasatch Improv Festival takes place January 17th through the 19th with 30 teams performing. According to their site, “The Wasatch Improv Festival strives to shine light upon the many different forms of Improv and lend a welcoming stage to its performers. Through activities, teaching, and performances, it is the goal of the festival to grow the love of this craft and present a true “Yes, and” experience to all who participate, whether they be a performer or an audience member.” Yes! and?…the festival takes place in Midvale at 695 W. Center Street.


• Learn to Curl at Utah Olympic Oval

SWEEEEEPPPPPP!!!! Yes, you can! A sport for literally everyone. The 2-hour class teaches the fundamentals including proper delivery, sweeping, and strategy.


• Disturbed at Vivint Smart Home Arena

The Evolution World Tour arrives at Vivint Smart Home Arena touring on their new album, “Evolution.” Three Days Grace is opening.


• The Crystal Method at Urban Lounge

Sure we haven’t really played them since “Six Underground” and the Spawn Soundtrack, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t fans. Their new album, “The Trip Home” can out last September and they are finally making their way back to Salt Lake for what should be a raucous show at Urban Lounge for those 21 and over.


• Hell’s Belles at The Commonwealth Room

It’s the beginning of our yearly debate: who pulls off a better version of “Thunderstruck”: Hell’s Bells or AC/DShe. The only way to know for sure is to hit up The Commonwealth Room and do your research.


• Cursive at Metro Music Hall

Tim Kasher brings Cursive back for this Monday night can’t-miss show as the band tours on their latest album, “Vitriola.” Summer Cannibals and Campdogzz are opening. 21+


• Mae at Urban Lounge

Virginia’s emo/indie band Mae will be at Urban Lounge with Relient K’s Matthew Thiessen and Allred. In case you missed it, Mae released their latest album at the end of November. 21+


• Peter Murphy at The Depot

Peter Murphy is celebrating 40 years of Bauhaus and is bringing along the Ruby Celebration Tour featuring David J performing “In the Flat Field” in it’s entirety. Desert Mountain Trib will open. 21+
