The Head and the Heart on July 19th at The Complex!

*This calendar is mostly accurate. probably!

• Band of Horses at the Union Event Center

Wax up your mustache, oil up your beard, and get ready for a laid back night. Nikki Lane is the opener.

• Ringo Deathstar at Urban Lounge

It was “emphatic” that I remind you about this show. Why? Because it takes a village to get this list done each week. And who is Ringo Deathstar? I had to look them up (I certainly don’t know everything). What I found out is that they are from Austin, Texas and formed around 2007. They are influenced by The Smiths, The Cure, and Fugazi. Now you can’t go around saying that I don’t do real research for this blog. Also, I know this will be a good show because one of our sales executives came and closed my door stating they are “quiet people.” It was just like some deleted scene from “Reality Bites.”

• X Ambassadors at Gallivan Center

The second-to-last of the 2019 Toyota Salt City Sounds Concert Series features X Ambassadors, who just dropped their latest album, “ORION” last month. Open support features The Shelters, Backseat Lovers, and Parkway Avenue. Doors at 6 pm. Join X96 at Club 50 West for a free LoungeX acoustic performance at 2:30p – must be 21 to attend the LoungeX performance.

• The Flaming Lips at Ogden Amphitheatre

The Ogden Twilight Concert Series continues with confetti, balloon walking, and good vibes with The Flaming Lips who return for their 2nd year in a row at the series. The Growlers are opening.

• Shinedown at USANA Amphitheatre

It’s a good night for guitars in Northern Utah. Shinedown’s Attention, Attention World Tour brings along Badflower, Dinosaur Pile-Up, and Broken Hands.

• Seal at Red Butte Gardens

The man launched into a superstar by really bad Batman film is still going stronger Batfleck! Sold out show at Red Butte tonight, so find your friendly, local neighborhood scalper for the tickets – just make sure they are legit before you hand that cash over.

• Pod Tours America at the Eccles Theatre

It’s Pod Save America (if you don’t know, it’s a podcast with over 370 million downloads), but live, for a night of virtue signaling, President bashing, and nothing short than a democratic rally in a red state though, as stated in press materials are, “equally hard on the Democratic Party when it screws up.” Fair and balanced, no?

• Patton Oswalt at Kingsbury Hall

One of the funniest people in the world! You know Mr. Oswalt from his movies, tv, books and the reason you’re going to this show – his standup.

• The Head and The Heart at The Complex

No matter what your ticket says, this show is at The Complex. The Head and the Heart bring along Hippo Campus for their Living Mirage Tour. Buy a ticket and get their new album for free! Excellent.

• Utah Royals FC vs. Portland Thorns FC at Rio Tinto Stadium

Hot off their World Cup win…count all 7 Utah Royal FC World Cup Champions…are back on the pitch. Come celebrate and watch them annihilate Portland! Text USA to 33986 to enter to win a family 4-pack and chance to meet the champions!

• Alex Moffat at Wiseguys

You know his impression from Saturday Night Live of Joe Scarborough, Mark Zuckerberg and Eric Trump and know you can know him from Wiseguys downtown (who just put an amazing new lounge in that you should get there early to see). There are 2 shows tonight and 2 shows tomorrow!

• Daniel Tosh at the Eccles Theatre

The guy whose show you binge watch on Comedy Central at 2 am while you’re taking down a Fiesta Pack from Del Taco, but live in a place nicer than your living room.

• Robert DeLong at Urban Lounge

Dropping beats with a Nintendo Wii controller and hopefully, bringing his Light Harp with him, don’t miss Robert DeLong at Urban Lounge for this 21+ show.

• Days of ’47 Handcart Races at the Utah State Fairpark

It’s that time of the year. Be careful not to get splinters. Sign up in teams of two for your chance to get the fastest time of the day and win daily cash prizes.

• Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats at Red Butte Garden

Bearded alt-folk blues rock at Red Butte. You’re as shocked as I am, no doubt. Also, it’s sold out, which isn’t.

• Golden Girls Live at Metro Music Hall

A few fewer beards than you’ll see at Red Butte, but hey, maybe they’ll have cheesecake. Early and late shows today and tomorrow

Get some rest…Pioneer Day is coming!
