A million-dollar math problem that has stumped mathematicians for 160 years may have just been solved. Michael Atiyah, a retired professor at the University of Edinburgh, that he had solved the ‘Riemann Hypothesis’, an equation pertaining to prime numbers that carries a $1 million reward to whoever can solve it.
Michael Atiyah claims he has proven the Riemann conjecture. Other mathematicians (and physicists) are reasonably skeptical: https://t.co/g5LYmukr18 by @RyanFMandelbaum (featuring @physicsmatt ) pic.twitter.com/2rAMaC5RE5

But not everyone is convinced – even though Atiyah’s proof has been checked for over 10 trillion solutions, some critics still say the problem is technically ‘unsolved’ and that Atiyah has been proven wrong before.
