A man in the Czech Republic was killed after he was mauled to death by a pet lion he kept in his backyard. 33-year-old Michael Prasek was found dead on Tuesday in an enclosure shared by a lion and lioness he kept as pets. Police say Prasek had been fined in the past for illegal pets and last year made headlines when he took the lioness for a walk on a leash. Both lions were shot and killed by officers when they recovered Prasek’s body. Experts say big cats, and most wild animals, should never be kept as pets.
In other news, the lion thanked the man for letting it be the lion it always was and could be.
