Odyssey Dance Theatre (ODT) will round out its 28th year with its popular Shut Up & Dance series—four separate programs in repertory–before they head out for their 15th European Tour–at the new Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville.
Odyssey’s Spring Repertory Season, where the dancers stretch their artistic muscle and create new, exciting works is a dance lover’s buffet, with something for everyone. Deseret News said, “Odyssey Dance Theatre’s Shut Up and Dance season only proves that it is a company to be taken seriously. Bravo!”
Shut Up and Dance is where the dancers and choreographers get to stretch their artistic muscle and really show off their abilities and different styles in smaller repertoire-style works. Derryl said, “We again stress accessibility but we are not afraid to explore more innovative choreographic styles of movement. The title says it all. Dance is an amazing form of expression that doesn’t require manuals and textbooks to understand. It communicates to all and across all boundaries.
Odyssey has produced original, innovative works and, to date, has created over 60 original works, including seven full-length productions.
Odyssey will return to its roots and restage its Sledgehammer and Let it Be pieces, ones that put Odyssey on the map and remain audience favorites to this day, as well as Chicago Nights and Romeo+Juliet.
X96 will be giving away tickets to Odyssey Dance Theater’s Shut Up and Dance 3/2-3/12 tickets. Between the dates of 2/28-3/4, between the hours of 6am-10am during the Radio From Hell Morning Show, callers will be taken on air for this contest. From these listener call ins, up to 5 winners will be selected to receive 1 pair of tickets each to the above Odyssey Dance Theater show. Prize value $80 and provided by Odyssey Dance Theater.
