Rare First-Edition Harry Potter Book Auctions For $97K

A rare first-edition Harry Potter book just sold for nearly 100 grand.

The book was one of just 500 hardcover editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, published in June of 1997 and purchased about 18 months later.

The volume was sold at auction for a full price of £75,000 – about $97K in U.S. dollars. The seller, who wished to remain anonymous, plans to use the money to pay for his daughter’s college tuition.

Do you have any old books that might be worth something? What’s the most you’ve ever paid for a collector’s item?
