Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Talks About His New Audio Book

Did you know tennis superstar Serena Williams was a Green Day fan? It’s true – and she’s an old-school fan to boot.

In fact, singer Billie Joe Armstrong says whenever she sees the band live, she puts in a request for one of their oldest songs – “Disappearing Boy”, from their debut album 39/Smooth.

Armstrong told the story on Jimmy Kimmel Live, calling Serena “one of the sweetest people.”

He also talked about his new audiobook on Audible’s “Words + Music” series called “Welcome to My Panic.” Chorus.fm describes it as, “Grammy Award winner Billie Joe Armstrong looks back on over thirty years with Green Day – from the early days of alternative rock to platinum-selling records, to Broadway. Via his decade-spanning catalogue, Armstrong contemplates both his own personal trajectory and Green Day’s influence on rock and roll history.” It will be released tomorrow, April 22nd.

What bands have you been going to see since their very first album? Ever see a band before they got famous?
