James Iha Reveals His Post 2018 Tour Plans With Smashing Pumpkins

When James Iha was asked to rejoin Smashing Pumpkins for their reunion tour, the co-founding guitarist figured he’d give it a shot and see where things go. But in a new interview, he reveals where he sees his future with the band. Speaking to Guitar Player, Iha fully commits to working with his former bandmates, saying, “I’m back in the band. But I think before all this started, I was thinking more, Let’s just see how this goes and take it from there. But you know, it’s been great.” Since he was speaking to a guitar magazine, Iha got into a discussion over the gear he used to record the Pumpkins’ new album Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1 LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun. which comes out November 16th. “I just kind of played whatever was around. There was a rack of guitars in the studio, and I’d try out a couple different ones really fast and see what works,” Iha admits, also adding that he used whatever amplifiers were available as well.
