In an interview with The Guardian, screenwriter David Franzoni (best known for co-writing Gladiator) talked up a film he’s writing about the Persian poet and scholar Rumi, one of the most often translated and widely read poets in history. He’s sometimes called the “Shakespeare of the Middle East” which is backwards because he precedes Shakespeare by a few centuries. Really it should be that Shakespeare is the Rumi of the West. But, as Franzoni points out, he’s the kind of towering literary figure, like Shakespeare, that remains interesting to people because of the scope of his genius. He’s a ripe cinematic subject.

Benicio Del Toro on Amber Heard’s Abuse Allegations: ‘There’s Something Really Twisted About That Girl’

Another star jumping into the fray! Johnny Depp’s friend Benicio Del Toro has said he thinks something is off about Amber Heard’s abuse allegations. “What I know, there’s a lot of trouble from the girl that sounds a little manipulative,” he told the New York Daily News’ Confidential on Tuesday, June 7. “It sounds a little bit like there’s something really twisted about that girl … but I don’t know the specifics.”

Ed Sheeran Sued For $20 Million For Allegedly Plagiarizing ‘Photograph’

We’re just thinking out loud here, but maybe Ed Sheeran should tread lightly when it comes to songwriting in the future. The English musician, who happens to be BFFs with Taylor Swift, is reportedly being sued for $20 million dollars over his song “Photograph,” according to Billboard. Songwriters Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard and their publishing company claim the song borrows heavily from their track, “Amazing,” which was released as a single by 2010 “X Factor” winner Matt Cardle. Harrington and Leonard have written hits for some of the industry’s biggest stars, including Kylie Minogue.

Prince William and Princess Kate joined Queen Elizabeth at a thanksgiving service at grand St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on Friday as the Monarch kicked off three days of official celebrations of her 90th birthday.
