Marvel’s new Iron Man is 15-year-old black girl

Civil War II sees Tony Stark hang up his boots to be replaced by Riri Williams, the company said. The character is a Chicago-born science genius studying at MIT and made her debut earlier this year. The news has prompted a huge reaction online, with many welcoming it as a step forward for diversity. Iron Man writer Brian Michael Bendis told Time he came up with Williams’ character after being struck by the “chaos and violence” of Chicago while working in the city. “And this story of this brilliant, young woman whose life was marred by tragedy that could have easily ended her life, just random street violence, and went off to college was very inspiring to me. “I thought that was the most modern version of a superhero or superheroine story I had ever heard.”

Marvel directors Joe Russo, Anthony Russo to remake cult movie The Warriors into TV series

Can you dig it? Well Marvel film directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, certainly plan to unearth a new generation of fans for the 1979 cult movie classic, The Warriors, by daring to turn it into a television series. Famed for their Marvel cinematic successes of Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War, the Russo Brothers are now expected to add their own splash of “pulp, sex and violence” to an age-old story of gang rivalry. They will team up with writer Frank Baldwin, Paramount TV and Hulu to develop a one hour pilot episode. It’s not confirmed whether they will commit to the TV series beyond the first episode.

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY TRAILER TO AIR ON ABC ON JULY 15TH

It appears we have television confirmations coming in for a three-minute Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer on the 15th of July. We all assumed Celebration Europe would bring us such a thing but it appears ABC listings confirm as much. The part that jumps out is the “3-minute trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” I can’t wait to see this. Rogue One is going to be a lot of fun. There we have it–it is very likely a new Rogue One trailer in about ten days and it will be on television. I imagine StarWars.com and its social media accounts will also facilitate the ability to watch the trailer earlier than the television show above. Either way, I’ll watch it!

‘Star Trek Beyond’ Clip: Dr. Bones Makes a “Typically Reductive Inquiry”

In J.J. Abrams‘ Star Trek films, Bones (Karl Urban) mostly interacts with Captain Kirk (Chris Pine). Now and then he’ll have a tense or fun side conversation with Spock (Zachary Quinto), but in the upcoming sequel, Star Trek Beyond, the two clearly have more to do together — which is a good thing, since Quinto and Urban are consistently reliable comedic relief in these films. The new Star Trek Beyond clip also features Uhura (Zoe Saldana). Her words with Spock may qualify as a spoiler, but if you’re not particularly spoiler sensitive, then check out the latest look at director Justin Lin‘s film. The other day we saw a new trailer for the Trek sequel, featuring Rihanna’s new single, “Sledgehammer,” which Angie correctly called the trailer’s “secret weapon.” It’s the most exciting preview of the film yet; Rihanna’s single makes Lin’s space adventure appear truly grand. The trailer was unquestionably an improvement over the teaser. This Star Trek Beyond clip isn’t a preview of some big set piece, but it’s a fun moment between Bones and Spock and a not-so-fun moment between Spock and Uhura.

Here’s the Star Trek Beyond clip
