Man Arrested After Receiving 700 Grams of Meth in the Mail

A Washington state man is behind bars after authorities intercepted a package addressed to him containing 700 grams of methamphetamine.

The package, which had been sent from Mexico, was discovered by agents at a postal center in Memphis, according to Customs and Border Patrol officials. Undercover officers then delivered the package to 33-year-old Michael Solis’ Yakima home, leaving it on his front porch. Solis was arrested after he returned home and picked up the package, the Yakima Police Department reports.

For his part, Solis is claiming he had no idea what was in the package or who sent it, police say. He’s been charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Don’t the police have to prove that Solis specifically requested the meth? What’s to stop a crackpot from mailing drugs to someone they want to get in trouble?
