While drinking and driving is never a good idea, one Florida DUI suspect has made his situation even worse by plowing his vehicle into an electronic sign that warns people against driving under the influence.
Bounty Cheramy, 22, is behind bars after police found him early Monday morning standing next to his car, which had suffered “heavy front-end damage,” according to his arrest report. Cheramy told deputies he’d been talking on his phone when he “suddenly struck something.” A search of the area revealed he’d run into an electronic sign that displayed the following message: “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”

According to the arresting deputy, Cheramy stunk of alcohol and was having trouble maintaining his balance. A breath test found his blood-alcohol content to be twice the legal limit of .08, an affidavit reveals. Cheramy has been charged with two counts of DUI and careless driving. He’s due in court on September 16th.
Is this an example of irony? Are signs like this actually effective in getting people to refrain from drinking and driving?
