More than 43,000 U.S. children have lost at least one parent to COVID-19.
The shocking statistic appears in Monday’s issue of JAMA Pediatrics, which also reveals more black children have lost parents than have white children.

“The number of children experiencing a parent dying of Covid-19 is staggering, with an estimated 37,300 to 43,000 already affected,” the report reads. “Black children are disproportionately affected, comprising only 14 percent of children in the U.S. but 20 percent of those
losing a parent to COVID-19.”
