2018’s Best Foodie Cities in America

I like food. Food tastes good.

October 16 is World Food Day and restaurant prices rising 2.8% (dang!) between July 2017 and July 2018 it really was time to find out where the best places to eat in the United States are. Sadly, West Valley isn’t. It’s not because of the quality, but arguably it is. There are simply no many, if any, gourmet specialty-food stores with only 0.0300 stores per square root of the population. Yeah, I am disgusted, too. Mostly because I hate those places. I don’t hate them. Hell, I hardly know any, but I rarely go to them.

But what goes into determining the best foodie city in the United States? Things like taxes, beer and wine availability, meal price, diversity, number of Michelin-Starred Restaurants, Yelp ranking, and other things. Who put it all together? Well, it was the personal finance website, WalletHub. It turns out Salt Lake City comes in at 46 while West Valley ranks at 181. Apparently, they’ve never eaten at Cracker Barrel.

Considering all that and more, the top ten cities are:

  1. Portland, OR
  2. San Francisco, CA
  3. Miami, FL
  4. New York, NY
  5. Los Angeles, CA
  6. Orlando, FL
  7. Las Vegas, NV
  8. Seattle, WA
  9. San Diego, CA
  10. Austin, TX
