On Wednesday, Canada officially legalized recreational marijuana nationwide, making them the first industrialized nation to do so. The bill was passed back in June, allowing all adults over the age of 19 to buy or grow marijuana. The country’s first legal dispensaries opened today. But even though pot is now legal, not every province or city has it just yet. Major cities like Vancouver and Toronto are still ‘dry’ while local retail laws are sorted out. Furthermore, all the people currently behind bars on marijuana charges will soon be able to apply for pardons.
Also, the Toronto Police have asked residents to stop tattle-telling on their neighbors for smoking pot as it’s legal. Why do adults do this? Mind your own business sometimes.
Asking police to call your friend because you are out of minutes is not a 911 call. Calling about your neighbour’s pot plants isn’t either. Cannabis is no longer illegal on October 17, 2018. Up to four cannabis plants will be allowed per household. Do not call police for this ^sm pic.twitter.com/1rUvR9yvcT

Asking for directions because you’re lost is not a 911 call. Reporting an adult smoking a joint isn’t either. Cannabis is no longer illegal on October 17, 2018. Consumption is allowed anywhere cigarette smoking is allowed except in a motor vehicle. Do not call police for this ^sm pic.twitter.com/7SoescfLM5
