In an indication that life won’t return to normal for quite some time, New Orleans has pulled the plug on all Mardi Gras parades in 2021.
In a statement released Tuesday, city officials say they made the decision “because large gatherings have proven to be super spreader events of the COVID-19 virus.”

That’s not to say Mardi Gras has been called off. City officials say Bourbon Street and Frenchman Street will remain open for the annual celebration, but attendees will be required to wear masks and follow all city and state coronavirus restrictions.
Is it premature to cancel the parades now? Should New Orleans call off Mardi Gras?
