Residents of 28 States, Including Utah, Find Mysterious Seeds in Mailboxes

The mysterious seeds that have been turning up in Florida mailboxes have spread their roots into other U.S. states including Utah. At least 28 states joined Florida Tuesday in issuing warnings regarding the unsolicited packets, which appear to have been sent from China. Some of the seed packets were each accompanied by a piece of jewelry, according to the Delaware Department of Agriculture.

While experts haven’t figured out why the seeds were sent out, the United States Department of Agriculture is warning against planting them — just in case. A statement released by the USDA reads, “USDA is currently collecting seed packages from recipients and will test their contents and determine if they contain anything that could be of concern to U.S. agriculture or the environment.”

Do you have a theory about the strange seeds? If you found or received a strange packet of seeds in the mail, would you plant them out of curiosity?
